henners88 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I've just read this on the BBC:

Quote:
10 of them will be live on TV and there will be extended highlights of the other 10, plus practice, qualifying and races all live on radio.

The highlights programmes will broadcast all the key events of the race - you can expect in the region of an hour's worth of action - as well as including new analysis tools to take our post-race coverage with Jake Humphrey, David Coulthard and Eddie Jordan to a new level.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/17350644
Only half of the race as highlights?!! Thats terrible news for me. I fail to see how they are going to deliver the tension and anticipation of unfolding events with only an hour to show it. So basically we have an hours worth of guff and boring interviews, tyre talk yawn and the rest is a few laps thrown together. I have a feeling the get together we have on Sunday will be more about a few beers than watching the race. :/

You can't assume I do either, or earn anywhere near £18,000 (I'm not saying you are, but maybe you are).

Yes, I feel there is going to be too much time wasted lambasting Eddie's shirts and not enough action. Not being able to use live timing is bad enough, but highlights are horrible if you're a fan. Anyway, the stuff about a new level is a bit embarrassing, because I can't see how it will, at least not on the highlights shows. At the moment, Sky look to be topping that with their interactive options.

As we are getting on to more sociological economic issues it may be worth considering that sky, along with cable companies, have developed an industry that employs many people directly and indirectly. Probably doesn't make up for the murdering of fluffy bunnies, but it allows some others to buy things they want too.

So you weren't really asking for highlights just a re-run

Me, i'm a student, i have access to sky go through my parents but im mostly going to be watching the BBC coverage

Even though im a fan of F1 i wouldn't personally be able to afford the sky fees

There's some odd moralising going on in this thread.

Personally, I sincerely hope Murdoch and every last one of his syphilitic tribe burn in hell for all of eternity, but I'd still subscribe to Sky if I wanted to watch live football and F1 enough, if my budget allowed.

As it is I didn't watch enough live races last year when it was free to warrant paying for them now. It's a shame live F1 is no longer free to air, but I can't honestly argue that every race should be included in the 'crown jewels' of free tv in the UK, and I think there are more important things for the BBC to spend my licence fee on.

Easiest fix if you have a Sat dish is point it at 19E instead of 28E and buy one of those cheap vanilla satellite box's from Lidl or similar and then watch the German coverage with the R5 commentary on a laptop or similar?

With James Allen as commentator on R5.... no way! I'd rather listen to it in German :P

Ooh, controversial!

I think TG probably pays for itself. But if less F1 allows BBC4 and 6 Music to survive that's fine by me.

Does anyone know what time the re-run will be on on Sky? If the highlights are only 60 minutes long I may aswell watch the re-run on Sky. I shall take my laptop to my friends and hook it up to his projector instead I am thinking now.

I was going to do that and have been having my sat-nav in German recently, but realised my knowledge of 'Nach links abbiegen up' and something about ausfarts wasn't going to help, because Rocky doesn't tell Seb where to go. (Apologies to Germans for *******ising their language there).

That's the start of a four and half hour programme, so there'll be a certain amount of build-up, perhaps an hour.

That's cool thanks. Perhaps I'll aim to tune in around 3:15 and see where its up to. Just don't want to be watching 2 hours of build up padded out with ad breaks every 15 minutes that's all.

Am i right in thinking that although during the " Live " race there won't be any ad breaks, the re-runs will have them ? Thought i heard that somewhere, but can't recall where.

From what I understand, the ad-breaks will be during the build up. I wouldn't be surprised if they were in the re-run, too. But not during the live race.

I'm not exactly thrilled about the prospect of not being able to watch half of the races live on TV, but if they show any more than an hour or so of the race, it's not exactly highlights. It's not really the job of a highlights programme to build up tension, it's there to show the best parts of the action. The average F1 race will have a significant amount of "dead time", where nothing of note happens. Plus in the event of safety cars, removing this period would open up more time to show actual racing so it's not all bad.

If you want to experience this tension, listen to the radio commentary and then watch the highlights later. I've done that with football for years...

Or find other means of watching it. Sky haven't managed to stop their football coverage being leaked onto the internet, so I imagine there'll be somewhere online that you can watch a poor quality stream.

Looking on the Sky planner, on sunday morning, it has the live race build up at 4.30am, then the race live at 6am , for 3 hours. The re-runs are lumped together for a 4 1/2 hour program, so i'd take a guess that, in the re runs, the race would be shown at 11am and 4pm respectively, but don't take that as gospel, i wouldn't want to be blamed if thats inacccurate
