So they're back up to the 540 that the claimed for the R18 in 2011? I doubt that's all the engine power they're making, and right now, everyone's engine power figures should be treated as conservative.

Released power figures have always been indicative... none will never reveal the real power output.

I read in the "Audi sports prototypes 2014" booklet recently released by Audi Sport that Jarvis will not run at Spa with Albuquerque and Bonanomi. I assume that this is due to Olly's commitment in the Super GT series, there being a Super GT race at Fuji on May 4th. It's a bit surprising though that he will not be on duty at Spa as I would expect that the LMP1 program would take priority.
Now, is Olly going to be replaced at Spa, e.g. by Marc Gené ? |

Aren't Jota running at Spa as a one-off besides the ELMS? In which case Marc would be racing in the P2 Zytek?

Nobody? Maybe they'll just do the race as a two-man crew.

Marc Gené is apparently testing the Audi R18 e-tron quattro at Paul Ricard today:

If it's Paul Ricard, it's probably LM related. The WEC test there had Audi running sprint bodywork, but they claimed that they were testing to get the car set up for Silverstone and Spa.

There's some new paperwork from the FIA with regards to Appendix B EoT.
Of note, no mention of the ERS incentive... Accidental oversight, irrelevant or dumped? |

Apparently theyre "frustrated" with the new energy allocation according to autosport. They cite the stint lengths and such being unequal.

I think the stint length is potentially unfair. Of course we won't really know until Sunday or perhaps even the 24 itself.

They complained about it last season when Toyota got 3 liters after Spa. They still won...

This "frustration" about unequal stint lengths is somewhat surprising. This issue did not result from the latest revisions in Appendix B. This was already the case in the very first drafts of the rules and was quite obvious in view of the fact that the fuel tank capacity remains the same for each type of fuel irrespective of the selected ERS option. Do not tell me that Audi were not aware that by choosing the 2 MJ/lap ERS option and the associated increase in maximum allowable fuel consumption they would end up having to live with shorter stints...

Obviously politicking.
This is why the "anti-sandbagging" rules are great. |

I think the shock of the WEC is that Audi, one of the world's leaders in advanced propulsion hybrid systems, decided to fall back on the tried and true diesel rather than competing in the advanced levels of hybrid systems.
I think the whole idea of the ACO and FIA is to showcase advanced systems. Audi is undercutting this whole principle by declining to go for it. |
