According to Motorsport-Total, Mercedes will confirm Vitaly Petrov tomorrow. Should be good for the Russian market then and maybe it'll push the DTM in Russia even more.

So unless Roberto Mehri stays in DTM (As he's tested a FR3.5 car), that'd leave one more open seat, IF Mercedes goes to eight cars. But their are strong signs for this: For once, DTM will change their qualifying format for 2014, where 18 cars will make it into Q2. In my opinion, it wouldn't make much sense to just remove four cars after Q1.

While I'm at it, the race format will also be slightly modified: There will still be a race over 70 minutes, but there will only be one mandatory pit stop.

Wow. DTM is just going from strength to strength with all these ex-F1 signings, after all, mid level F1 driver = absolute top anywhere else

Unlike these two, Petrov and di Resta are still in their best years.

The DTM's facebook page confirmed Petrov at Mercedes, so I guess he must break his competition now!

Just look at the confirmed entries so far, nearly every single driver on the list is a star in their own right.

DTM driver quality is through the roof. Indycar-beating lineup right there in my opinion.

Unless the grid expands to 24 cars, would they?

And here's the new BMW M4 DTM: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/112723

Those mirrors look really weird and they even remind me of that horrible era of flaps.

I am a big fan of BMW, but that is really horrible....it does not reflect the really nice looking road car!!!!!

And what about new weight handicaps and single pit-stop rule?
PS I think all this changes won't help - there're going to be only one leader and a pair of "alpaguer"s 10-15 seconds behind in every race. And after this season almost everybody will say that this format is not interesting and racing is dull, and they will return to 2 pit-stops to improve the show etc. etc. It's a recursion of some sort.

I don't like the single stop rule because I would abolish the mandatory pit stops.

Most useless race class IMO.
The cars are becoming uglier by the year. Now they added even more winglets.
Would make Transformers jealous.

sounds weird, but I'm actually sad to see merhi go. He grew on me after his awesome rain performance and was considerably more laid back and predictable in traffic towards the end of the season. I'd have whished him to go further with this...

The BMWs liveries look good:

http://www.revistasafetycar.com/dtm/...ara-2014-17763

For me the DTM aesthetics are superb, the cars look like proper race cars and the liveries are good.

If this would actually take place, that would be great news in more way than one. It puts back a track on the calendar that is on its way to be a classical race, everybody in the DTM likes the track, not session would be interupted if a certain mister P. would like to do a tour in his plane, and, last but not least, chances are I will be able to attend the race. :-)

Apart from the quali, I prefer Moscow to Zandvoort, which really saw minor ontrack action comparing with Moscow. The Moscow is a much better race
