Hmm interesting to see that Tom Chilton seems to be looking for a career change with his ultimate goal being in sportscar racing full time at some point in the future, whether thats 1 year away or 10 he doesent know yet however.

Tom has raced the zytec before and with his connection to Arena and his dads money, it is no suprise he will drive it again this year!

As for career change...... surely any driver aspires to better things!
Tom is maturing and gaining skill every time he climbs aboard a race car!
He has a lot of talent and i wish the lad well!

Maybe one day Mike will offer him a drive?

He said when he first started in touring cars that one of his goals was to race in the Le Mans 24hrs. Really just a question of 'when' not 'if'.

No Encke Sport or Xero. Adam Jones now has his own team (GR?) and Leason has ditched plans to race the Astra and instead takes second seat at BTC. Kartworld the only cars to run bio-ethanol. Significantly Team Halfords are ineligible for the Independent's title.

It's good to see such a healthy number of S2000 cars on the grid for this year.

I'm assuming the third Seat Sport UK entry may be for later in the year - registering them now - is that a way of getting around the latecomers ballast ?

Still good to see the old MG's out there, anyone know if these are the 2006 WSR cars ?

Also I see Setanta is indeed taking over full race day coverage.

Can't help but think Steve Neal's plan has backfired. He was trying to say earlier in the year that the team should be considered a works team now. Seems they are getting to much help from Honda to be considered an independent but unless Honda stump up the entry fee they aren't considered a manufacturer team either.

Leggate's car appears to have the updated grill and headlights but Hughes' is the old ZS before the facelift. At a guess, I would say he has the same car as last year but she is in one of the Team RAC ZSs from 2006 (Collards?)

Lots of pictures up at btccpages.com, including the rather good looking TD Civic and the incredibley ugly Vectra.

I see that Leason and Stockton are now running a single team? Arkas now only running one car. Enke and Clyde Valley not turning up is no surprise.

26 cars (discounting the third SEAT, for now at least), 18 teams, 9 distinct types of cars from 7 manufacturers - all great news. 20 S2000 cars is more than I hoped for; the BTC-spec cars are icing.

Can we read anything into Allison having a lower number than Howell - is he the de facto team leader, or am I reading too much into things?

I think the Astra Sport Hatch looks good in the white.

The Vectra is uglay as sin though, especially the paint scheme, absolutely horrible!

25 is Howell's number, simple as that really. He's always raced 25 in the main class. I would say Gareth is the the team leader.

Like the "Aspect" Lexus, also really good to see the MGs running their "proper" colours in what must be their last year...

Vectra yuck. The mock up with the '06 paint job was much better. Red next to the green! What is it, a shellsuit!

Also - add Kelvin Burt may join the season later in a second Geoff Steel BMW, a 320si E90!

RIP The Vauxhall Astra Coupé

What is going on with the front bumper on the Vectra? Looks like a mantelpiece under the headlights.

Its huge - looks like a bloody hammerhead shark! Tell you what though I think its between them and SEAT this year - couldn't be bothered to post my pics - mainly of engines and oily bits - if anyone wants to see anything in particular I'll put it up.

Stuff I picked up on.

Full day TV coverage (as per Motors last year) will be on Sentanta.

27 cars confirmed Gow reckons 3 or 4 more possible.

21 Super 2000 - pretty good.

Phil Bennett 'I'll never race BTCC again'

The Alfa was lacking in the engine department as the car that was meant to be launched was still on the way from Italy (team v.unhappy with the Italians)

Not much ground shattering stuff
