Canadian CCWS TV -> Global!

Fellow Canadians: I think everyone is pleased with Global's coverage of CART races. I think it's time to try to get them to broadcast ALL races, instead of TSN. On cart.com it says that the TO numbers were up 33% from last year to 577k. That's like a 5.7 rating in the US! In other words it's a bigger Canadian TV event than the real Indy! (rather than the Molson Indy)http://www.champcarworldseries.com/N...le.asp?ID=8091 I'd suggest that the total number of TO race viewer numbers were substantially higher in Canada then they were in the US (spike usually get's a .3 or 300k).

Global normally broadcasts golf on Sundays in the summer, but other than that they have nothing. I don't know that they'll bump golf, but perhaps they would if the ratings were higher for CART, which may not be a ridiculous suggestion.

I wrote to feedback for GlobalTV programming in Ontario. They wrote back quiet quickly (4 minutes!). Here's what they said:

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for such positive feedback. At this time we don't have any
non-Canadian races planned though.

Subject: Champ Car World Series Coverage

Hello,

I want to congratulate Global on fantastic coverage of the Champ Car World Series races in Toronto and Vancouver. I would also like to convey that I am looking forward to watching the Molson Indy Montreal. Global's coverage put TSN's use of SpikeTV's hideous coverage to shame. I know I speak for many Champ Car fans when I say we are also frustrated with TSN's tape delays of CCWS races to odd hours of the night, different days, or both.

Does Global had any plans to broadcast non-Canadian Camp Car races in the future?

Sincerely,
Jeff Guilfoil

Not a rining endorsment, but maybe we can plant the seed. Companies consider that if one person is willing to write them a letter that it reflects the views of a substantial portion of the population (say 1000 people). Besides how many people write complements?

Montreal: mblanche@globaltc.com (Title: Feedback from canada.com)
Maritimes: I'm not sure, take your guess from the list: http://www.canada.com/maritimes/globaltv/contactus.html

If your local station is anywhere else, you're on your own to figure it out.

Last year, in an email from CART's Director of Communications, it was explained to me that the series was also quite frustrated with TSN. But they're onboard again this year, and to an even greater extent (last year TSN didn't get the network races).

I'm gonna follow your lead, Snrub.

blaarg should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
We only have 1 live race on TV in Australia, being the Indy300 in Queensland.

Every other race is shown on Tuesday Mornings at 2am.

I hope Champcar negotiate a deal with another television network here, as the current channel couldn't careless about Champcar fans in Australia.

We don't even get replays on our cable network.
