They sell it in Waitrose here, it is one of my favourite cheeses. Needs to be left out of the fridge to 'flow'

If we face the Michelin stand, two solutions :
on its left, as last year's meeting ;
on the right near the tree.
I'm not sure there will be enough space around this tree because other stands will be built next to it. I suggest to keep the same place, depending on the width of the place left by the Michelin stand.

As always, aim to meet at roughly the same spot - we should find somewhere large enough in the vicinity....

I agree same area as last year, we will be on good terms with the michelin people by then so can't see any problem.
good mini meeting yesterday with a fine turn out although i think the main event should be a little bigger this year.
Smell of cheese should ensure we have an area to ourselves but after a while the michelin people might decide to turn the fire hoses on us if the wind is blowing in their direction

Just invested in a lump of organic mature cheddar in a thick covering of red wax, should keep it fresh until saturday meeting, It is unfortunately in a very obvious heart shape but i am sure no one will notice, just got to find some Stilton in a pot with wax seal

In this photo I think the white van is pretty much where we usually meet - my gut feeling is that Michelin will set up largely as last year, the van will presumably move, and there'll be that alley running towards the track.

If that's the case I don't think we'll have any problems.

Getting Ready for the Departure

Have made my list and checked it more than twice. I just got back from work travel and was catching up on the recent threads and posts. I wanted to check to see what the status was regarding the pit/team visit that typically happens on Friday.

I'm bummed that I missed the Michelin visit sign up, but that's alright - it's my first visit to the 24 so I'll be suffering from experiential overload anyway...

I saw the post on another thread regarding not allowing glass bottles. I hope I don't get stopped, I've already packed a six pack of bottled beer for the trip over.

I was most likely going to walk from Porsche Curves campsite down the road behind the carting complex and in through the entrance near the big Danish campsite. Hopefully the security check there will be light. Do they actually check backpacks on the way in? I don't remember if mine was checked or not the one other time I was there.

We were stopped and checked last year, I had to run the bottles back to our car .

Reminds me of arriving at Dover in the 2CV with a full trailer of camping gear. Officious security person asked us where we were going and why, so we told her to a French 2Cv meeting where we are camping. We then got asked if we had any sharp knives and she nearly had a fit when we said yes. She questioned us about why we were carrying knives and was very dubious about our explanation that we needed them for preparing food while we were camping. She then asked if had any gas canisters and was again shocked to be told that we did and then asked us why we were carrying gas. Telling her that it was to power the stove we cook on while camping just about satisfied her, so we had to show her the stove and had to prove it was all switched off. We managed to get away from her just about in time to get on the ferry.

It was very different in 2009 going to Le Mans. arrived at Newhaven and the security man asked us where we were going so we said to Le Mans where we are camping for the race. He then apologised for having to ask us, but were we carrying any sharp knives and before we could say anything he said, of course you are as you are going camping. He asked if we had any gas bottles in the car and again answered for us and then sent us on our way.

Although attempts have been made, as far as I'm aware, it has not been possible to arrange a visit to a team this year. Those who typically do can therefore have a bit of a break in 2014.....
