Dubai V8s, here we go again

Now AVESCO are talking about a V8 race in Dubai, possibly with another 'international' category, again the question is raised, what will V8s gain out of this, Dubai has no international motorsport history, the only reason is probably TC stands to gain some bucks big time.

Whats next, the Paris - Dakar V8Supercar International

And I am sure that sponsors like Betta and K.Mart* are looking to international exposure! A lot of people from Dubai (Dubians? Dubious?) are going to rush into the nearest Betta Electrical for a Fridge or TV!

*K.Mart in Aus is not the same as the USA K.Mart.

Not the same? Who told you that? Couldn't pick any difference when we lived over there, moved back 2 years ago.

K.Mart in Aus is run by Coles/Myer under some sort of licence deal and is going a lot better than K.Mart in the USA which is in big fincancial trouble and closing a lot of stores.

Yeah, most yank originated stores here are aussie owned/run

But the stores are exactly the same, McDonalds, The Keg, KFC, Hungry Jacks/Burger King, Target etc etc are the same.

Maybe TC is going to make his own airline so that everyone can fly there (as if anyone from Dubaiwas going to see it)

Holden might be keen though, they're selling nearly as many Commodores and Statesmans over there as they sell here.

Obviously, this is being done though for one reason and one reason only, someone is going to line TC's palm with gold.

What would be an offence for cutting a nose off or at least part of one. You never know Mark Skaife may be able to get a nose job for nothing

Why don't we counteract this by putting our collective pennies and pay TC big $$ to have a race around my backyard. It would have so much going for it! Great setting, close to transport, it would become the premier grass track race in Australia! What's more, it is well equiped for a few corporate guests... what more would he want?

Crash, love the signature, I do read AA, at CAMS ofice.

I've been to your house, you don't have room to run a Gemini race. However, there is plenty of land out in my back paddock, let's ask TC to build a track there.

Build a track? I've never really considered Canberra to be a track, moreso a large scale pinball arcade

.... but you're right. My back yard has a grid capacity of 32 cars, but we only have 12 pit spaces, and by using the tricky AVESCO system, you could only have 0.8 cars in pit lame at any one time. ('Lame' was a typo, but I like it, so it stays )

At 60km/h in a new Astra, i thought Canberra was a nice tight, twisty interesting little track. With over 30 V8 Supercars it would be like routing the Panama canal through a garden hose.

Why don't we all find out how much TC wants before he'll #$%@ off and leave the sport in the hands of people who love the sport, no matter the figure, i'm sure there are enough people out there to raise it.

I'm in two minds about Canberra, i definatly believe it has no place on the calendar, yet i get the feeling it could be a bit of fun to have a race around there, probably just one though.
