As a countryman I wish Facundo Regalia a great 2012 season at AutoGP!

The action is starting in only two days in Monza.

Surely you mean when will the grid be announced?

Joking aside, I wonder if this series actually stands to make some headway this season. GP2 budgets too high, FR3.5 already full up, people dithering about the 2 main F3 series, could be a good option for a season for those drivers who can't raise the budgets elsewhere?

Excellent news that Van Der Drift is racing, along with him there were a couple of other surprising names, Varhaug and Ricci, the Italian especially.
I always liked Ricci, assuming he's in for the season he has to be a good shot for the title.

a good high profile season this year would definitely set them up well for next season. that in turn will be a do or die season for gp2. so it's quite an interesting time for big rowdy single seaters.

i suppose you could say there's 3 or 4 drivers who have either been priced out or opted out of fr3.5/gp2 - daniel de jong, quaife-hobbs, pal varhaug, and i guess van der drift and ricci to a point as well. i feel a bit sorry for varhaug, he had a crappy season in gp2 and this seems a really good choice in series to have a recovery drive in, a la grosjean.

Is Nova back from sidelines? Is it new company? If so, who people of Viertuosi are?

Adderly Fong? That Sirotkin fellow will be interesting to see considering he actually won his category last year. Big jump up in cars though. vd Drift done well considering I don't think he's had any testing?

Well good to see that many cars out so far. Van der drift is clearly the stand out driver so if he can do the full year and win it, it will keep him noticed at least.

I'm sad Quaife-Hobbs couldn't get a GP2 or Formula Renault seat, he's the only one from last year's GP3... but maybe it'll be better, because if he win Auto GP (or 2.-3.), he'll get more fame than being in a GP2 15. position...

Sirotkin made his first appearance in a bigger category, and he was second by 0,040... Nice job.

It must mean taken over Dams slot on the grid because they were most definitely Supernova's top technical people last season in GP2. Infact Andy Roche run the GP2 team from the start of GP2 and F3000 before that

i think saying they took over the dams entry is less tenuous than saying they took over super nova because they're using the personnel. but it's all semantics really. who actually cares?

when are the races? edit: question answered by kotkot - when is the second race?

Quaife-Hobbs won the first race... he was good, Campana was a little quicker though... Sirotkin stalled at the start, but he had the fastest lap by 8 tenths... Damn, he'll be good.

i wonder if there are more pens on the way as there was still moving a car out of way and a few did not see yellow flags which is a major league no-no.

Wasn't impressed with the average driving standard on display. AQH, Verhaug and CvdD looked very capable. Everyone else looked very poor IMHO. Made me wonder what the point of Auto GP actually is.

It's not a feeder series to anything so what is the point of it all.

Every series is a show case of talent not only drivers but Engineers and Mechanics who should never be forgotten. Some drivers stood out at Monza but so did some teams especially Virtuosi who's pit stop resulted in a race win for Varhaug. I agree Varhaug,Quaife-Hobbs and Van der Drift looked good and Van der Drift went into the weekend with no testing at all with an incredible 2nd place. I hope he gets funding to carry on and make the series exciting.
With GP2 imploding and World Series only attracting monied drivers Auto GP could just throw up a few surprises, after all it didn't do Grosjean any harm by winning the series.
