Any ideas on A1 team budgets

Hey guys. Im doing an assignment on "Performance Vs Budget" for my Economics of Motorsport part of my final year Motorsport Engineering degree at Coventry Uni.

Some of you seem to be very close with or are involved in the A1 series and was wondering if any of you knew some of the costs involved with the series.

As budgets are a sensitive area, you might be lucky getting information. Especially in an open domain like a discussion forum. Not going to stop you trying though!
What I would suggest is maybe contacting the teams direct (lots have websites, you can find them on www.a1gp.com), they might be more amenable to a polite e-mail sent to them?

Cheers for the link.

I am on great terms with Brian Sims, the Team GBR director of Marketing and he has invited me to A1 GP HQ after the series is over, however my report needs to be in in a few weeks and so any extra info anyone can give me would be great.

Crikey, $300,000 prize money for a race win in merely F3000 style racing, that's nuts!

and $1m for first in the championship.

Depending on the costs of running in the series, and buying franchises, if they are relatively low then there's serious incentives to go for the win? But if the costs to run and have the franchise are big then the prize money must be important to balance the books.

Autosport of 13th April had the full prize winner list - I should think that the front running teams will have made a profit, but don't know how they may have agreed the split with the drivers

This thread has pretty much died now, but for anyone who doesn't read Autosport, the prize money list is here.

Interesting stuff, I reckon. I doubt if any country came out of the season ahead financially, except France.

In this link there is talk of a luxembourg team. They also talk about money:
according to the link, 20 million euro for 5 years --> 4 million a year.

There is also a part about hosting a streetrace in Luxembourg, budget for the first year of such a race would be 5 million euro, cost would be down in its 2nd year.

Edit: We are an english speaking forum, and I don't speak french, so please, a word for word translation. Hazza
