Barrie I have a fone number for Alistair if you want to contact him. I got it a couple of weeks ago as I was trying to get in touch with him to see if he would be interested in attending the GrpB Sprint next year but then heard it had been sold so I never rang him.

Audi Quattro

I sold the car to Audi UK who then moved it on to Jhon Hanlon who has restored the car back to its original group 4 spec. The history of the car goes right back to the very start as it was the first car. Hannu was reunited with the car at Goodwood this year along with another Quattro A2 from Jhons stable

Thanks Alistair for the info. Nice to have another driver on this forum. I did read about Hannu using the car at Goodwood, didn't realise it was your ex Quattro. Interesting.

Hello all

I´m new here...... not really, but as active member I´m new
Read a lot of all here and I´m impressed how big your knowledge is.
I´m a huge Grönholm Fan and since he decided to start in Rallycross, I
was looking a bit more in this direction.

My Boyfriend is a Quattro Fan, when I read this about Alistair Galloway and his Audi Quattro A1, I was so excited for him.

My Question now is:
" Is there any Pic from the time this A1 got driven from Alistair Galloway?"

I saw the Pictures from the reunion at Goodwood. But how did the Car look when it got driven from Alistair Galloway?

Thanks in advance if somebody could show me a picture or a link where I can find some

Stefanie

Have a look on http://www.conconnolly.com/ in his 'oldies' sections and there is an email address where you can contact con himself and he may have other piccies. I saw the Galloway Quattro race many times in Ireland so there must be a few piccies about. To be fair, AG's Quattro wasn't the quickest (the car, not the driver). If you want absolute top spec Quattro Rallycross stuff look up anything to do with Olle Arneson or the late Herbert Breiteneder.

BTW: As the 1982 and 1983 Audi quattro A1 of Franz Wurz was an ex-Mikkola car that AFAIR after the 1983 British RX GP at Brands Hatch was sold to Dimi Mavropolous, could it be this one?

Thanks for help from all of you

Oh I know the cars from Breiteneder and Arnesson already.
But if you try to follow a bit the history of cars, you always have a problem to identify some of them.
And it would be interesting to see a picture of the car when it got driven in Rallycross.

Okay! The ex-Mikkola factory quattro A1 driven by Franz Wurz in RX for two years is the one on the header here: http://www.erc24.com/?Show=Newslist&c=1

Hi Steffi, as you are from "Treverorum" did you know that there was a single International Rallycross event at your hometown? It took place on September 9 1984 at the former airfield (Flugplatz) at Trier-Euren and was organised by the "Quadriga Treverorum" of the "Auto-Club Trier 1922 im ADAC". I was there and as the organisation turned into utter chaos during the event I was helping the Clerk of the Course (Willi Beck) to run things, instead of taking pictures for my publications.

Hey, I didn´t know this.
Imagine where I live ?
Trier - Euren.

But at this time my interests was in Moto Cross. I was mechanics for a driver, so we where on the Moto Cross stages every Weekend.
I only remember , infront of the shop I worked on the Bike , was the start from Hunsrück Rallye, and me was wondering , where this cars are going.

Yep, I remember taking pictures at the "Flugplatz Trier-Euren" Rallycross track during a special stage of the Hunsrück-Rallye in August 1984. Walter Röhrl in an Audi Sport quattro (not a S1 by then) and others.

I got information right now, that Walter Röhrl drove there a 0 car?
He tested a turbocharger and some other parts there for 1000 Lakes Rallye.
( don´t wonder, my boyfriend is a quattro fan.... freak... what is more then a freak? .. he is working with the history of audi quattro)

Is there any chance to see this pictures somewhere?

Yep, the starting number of that Röhrl Sport quattro reads "001".

Is your boyfriend one of those quattro lunatics who want to make the World believe that the so-called S1s were actually E2s and that the "Pikes Peak" record breaker of Walter Röhrl was the only S1 ever built…?

My boyfriend is fighting for the "name " S1.
He always say there was never a E2.

Audi Quattro ( long)
A1 and A2 (long)
Audi Sport Quattro ( short)
and S1

and Pikes Peak was a normal S1 for him, that just with several more or bigger parts on it.

The Pikes Peak S1 "a normal S1"…? But that wing monster had something between 600 and 650bhp, although Audi claimed "just" 598bhp for it.

Here http://www.motorsport-aktuell.com/ra...ruft-5646.html you can find a story I did recently for MSa-Online on Pikes Peak. Note the pic of Michèle Mouton and "Mister Rallycross" in the gallery on the right.

haha , yes, with much more power for sure.
Normal S1 was around 460bhp - 480bhp.

After pikes peak my boyfriend could look the car at audi sport and he could took the whole dimensions.
Wings and everything.
The Bobby Unser drover the car the year before too, and it still got made better then.

What do you think about it, that the whole world will call the S1 now a E2?

I learned a bit fron my boyfriend about Quattros, and met a friend with a Sport Quattro in Eifel Rallye this year. And I was shocked when he told me it is a S1 and the car from Gary Midwinter and Wolf Dieter Ihle are a E2s. Hahaha, I was " you say this too????"

http://www.quattros1.de.vu
This is the site of my boyfriend. It´s old and need a long overdue, but in fact it´s right.

if it don´t work, with the .vu, try it this way: http://quattros1.qu.funpic.de/

Here Steffi, something for your boyfriend. A picture I took of Franz Wittmann winning the 1984 Jänner-Rallye in Austria from Björn Waldegård and triple European RX champion Franz Wurz (the navigator in his own Audi quattro for Björn). I took this pic about two hours before a bloody idiot from Passau crashed into the boot of my own Nothelle-Audi 80 quattro to shorten my car by more than half-a-meter…
