Claypole should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Anyone at Curborough, 10/5/09?

Anyone sprinting at Curborough next Sunday, at present there are only 43 cars, so plenty of runs in store for us all. Happy times.

Yes - but not Driving. Mostly I will be dodging you lot whilst snapping.

It was the BARC meeting yesterday at Curborough and amongst the many cars taking part they had 65 Caterham Academy drivers. Good fun had by all.

Judging by the number of replies we won't have time to chat because you'll be on the circuit all day on your own and I'll be taking thousands of photos of you going past.

Just make sure you give me the opportunity to get some different angles from around the track.

Well, enough angles for you? hope you didn't get the one where the door flew open around The Molehills, I was getting warm at the start and forgot to close it properly, hence the "open sesame" moment. The previous lap i forgot to close the sunroof too. On one lap I did slow down quite a bit, due to being on three cylinders, luckily, it was just a spark plug. still had to go to Lichfield to get one, note to self, must carry spare spark plugs.
Did you see the Renault Alpine, sounded gorgeous and looked gorgeous too.
Cheers Claypole.

I too will be there on the 14th June,Sunday was a great day, and the extra runs needed because I ran my first timed run three cars after the Elise that dumped its coolant on the line and the second timed run was on three cylinders. My fastest lap was the fourth run, when I think I nailed the Molehills.
The marshalls did a fab job with little time to wait between runs, thanks to you Jimgod and your colleagues.
Rhodospin, seen your pictures and they are fantastic, nice one.

Sorry to be pedantic but it's an Alpine Renault not a Renault Alpine!

To Be absolutely correct, and totally pedantic, most alpine experts wouldn't even say Renault, and just stick with Alpine.
Cheers Claypole
Welcome to the forum, are you a fan of the car?

How we laughed at the Marshals post by the fire engine. It was that funny I missed the shot.

Can't say I'm gutted about that, it was bad enough being towed in by the landie last year and being photod by a mate.

The tyres are great, last year, on my first outing ever I managed 44.88 and reduced that to 41.31 so the tyres and bravery pills did the trick, I fear I lack the talent for a sub 40 second lap. (and most probably the equipment too).

I am looking forward to the next two nscc events in June and July and assuming I don't have to take an unscheduled trip to the motorfactors at lunch, I will pop over for a chat.

Cheers Claypole.

Mr Rhodopsin did well to get a montage of me spinning at the first turn (no 7, green Saxo). Most amusing pictures.

Note to self - no, that corner should not be taken flat!

An enjoyable day, good weather a good bunch of people. I set a new PB, but was frustrated by the end that a misfire (and aforementioned spin) stopped me knocking just that bit more off.

Oh well, bring on June 14th - that's my birthday and I'll be fresh back from a sunny holiday too, so lets hope the Gods are with me!

Finally - I was a couple cars back from the Alpine at the start - indeed it did look, sound and move gorgeous! Claypole your Bond was also very fetching. Was it you I saw leaning into the engine bay saying 'I dunno what to do, I just drive it, I dunno how to fix it'? Those very same words came from me regarding my misfire later in the day!

I did a lot of work on the car when I built it but technical bits like the engine, gearbox and electrics were all done by mates for the price of a beer.

Luckily, my uncle Dave (three years older than me) sourced the problem and off we went a spark plug hunting.

I had a running battle with David and his Alpine at Thoresby park last september, and we were never more than half a second apart and annoyingly he beat me again. Nice bloke too.
Cheers Claypole.

Note to self - switch camera to 12 frames per second when I see a green saxo on track

Ha ha! I saw the Lotus spinning later in your photos - I claim best spin caught on camera at least!
