Mercury Flathead information.

I am considering acquiring an interesting car powered by a Mercury Flathead, 1953 or so, I believe 4.2 litres.

Can anyone tell me how many horses can be got from this mill? We all know that 'C' types for example go much better today than they did then, so presumably the Mercury will too?

There's not much point restoring something that would always start last and end last!

Any suggestions of specialists for this type of engine rebuild would be most welcome.

Try contacting the good folk at this website. There are a number of falat head ford V8 cars running here in Australia.

Also, Oily Rag is on this forum and he appears to be associated with the HSRCA - Oily may be able to put you in touch with someone who knows.
