[V8ST12R04] Mike Pero 250 at Hampton Downs, June 1-3
Round 4 of the V8SuperTourer series across the pond...
Will we see more different winners, different people at the front of the pack? There were new cars said to be joining in... are they on track for this round, or after the winter break? Lets see what happens... |

yes looking forward to this one, have hopped on to early bird tickets so they are very reasonable. I think one thing we can gaurantee is that the air temps wont be hitting 28 Degc like they did last time.
If its dry we may get some pretty impressive lap times. and i suppose this round will settle the drivers championship for the sprint rounds wont it? If that is the case then its looking good for Mr Reid, but as always i'll be throwing my support behind the #47 car. Hope we do get 18 on the grid though, that will be great |

2 new boys confirmed for this weekends racing, be interesting to see how they slot in, both fantastic drivers, but 3 rounds down on the others, in freshly completed cars. How do you reckon Fogg and Gaunt go?

Do you undertand the difference between building something nice and shiney and straight and repairing something with significant damage before you can begin to make it nice and new again??

Surely it comes down to spares available and resources. We were all told there was no cage damage, so it would be resonable to expect it to turn up on the grid this weekend. Plenty of teams in other tin top series around the world would have turned it around in time, but they probably have more $$$ and resources to make it happen. |

As plenty of people keep saying the chassis was fairly straight, you'd have to think it was lack of $$ or lack of available parts..
Either that or there's something in the design of the cars that make them a sloooooooooooow fix. |

It will be interesting to see if the ST prototype makes an appearance this weekend. With talk of lack of parts around, Fogg's car could be half prototype. Great effort though.

Oh, that one.
I just guessed it was one of the cars already on track. Someone must know what happened to it. |

Without the chassis jig the cars were built on even in this country, my guess is that they spent their time checking it was dead straight before even beginning to repair it. Sure, other overseas teams might have been able to fix it quicker, this is a new series, and this was the first major shunt. So spare parts haven't exactly been sitting on the shelf waiting for tis kind of occasion. |

Considering it's been a month since the crash and 4 months since the start of the series, it's not a real good look. From the sounds of things the car wasn't torn up too badly, so it'd be interesting to know what parts are in short supply? Bloody lucky they haven't had a few more big 'uns... |

Agreed, there should be plenty of spare parts available seeing how the teams aren't allowed to fabricate their own.

Agree completely. I'm sure none of us know the whole story with the car. Only what the media have told us. |

I was told today that at his testing this week, Fogg did a 1.04.7 on his 20th lap at Hampton. Straight out of the box with no faults other than a scraping splitter. His team have churned out huge hours to get the car ready and my source even commented that the build quality (all parts have either been painted, powder coated or anodized) is top notch.
I will try and get some pictures tomorrow. (1.04.7 equates to P4 in qualifing at the feb round). |
