1991-1993, the last Group C cars? If it was done back then, some re-engineering could achieve the same thing now. The only problem would be rather prohibitive costs.

if in f1 will enter some other manufacter, then will be possible, in end group C era, peugeot did the 3.5 V10 for the 905 and then was available also for f1 team; but if the situation will remain like now (only 4 engine supplier in f1) is really hard that there will be again an engine sharing between f1 and ACO/IMSA competitions

Going to make a POSSIBLE connection- Infinity currently adorn the front of Red Bull in F1. Renault and Nissan (parent of Infinity) are one. Renault has said they've 'paved the way' for Nissan to enter the sport. Nissan are Rumored to be involved with Oreca in P1. Nissan- engine supplier for Red Bull in place of Renault? Same type of engine for P1? Ya never know.

I'm not totally familiar with upcoming F1 regs, but I think going to fairly standardized F1 regs (assuming they are still that way) would be counterintuitive to a consumption formula where teams should be allowed to design whatever they want so as long as they don't use up their fuel. I would hate to see a standardized engine formula.

This article does not go into great detail, but it sounds like Pescarolo has not made plans for 2012 as of yet.

I'm not sure if finances/sponsorship are a concern or what. I know Pescarolo has an aversion to the ALMS and LMP2 so I don't know what other recourse there is if they aren't in WEC P1 except for being a Le Mans-only entrant. Well, we'll see, my feeling is that they will find a way to be on the WEC P1 grid next year.

Hugh Chamberlain said to me personally at that time , there is not enough money in the sport for the privateer to get this workin . Same applies today , imo . He was right and this lead to the downfall of Group C !!!

However, there might be another big surprise today!

Quite extraordinary......you really couldn't make these stories up.....a Dome Judd and an AMR-One Judd!

Remember that we never saw the true performance of the chassis and the aero because of the terrible Aston Martin engine.

I can imagine that Pescarolo is mainly interested in the tub, which is more modern that the ancient Courage tub he has been using, and which is designed for the big front Michelins. The Delta Wing project also selected the AMR-One tub to save money on design, crash tests, manufacturing, ... (see http://www.mulsannescorner.com/newssept11.html).
Maybe the Pescarolo engineers will develop an own, more conventional aero package for the AMR-One.

Both the english and dutch translation metion a Aston Martin (coupe), and later on talk about 2011...

The coupe seems very unlikely to me, wouldn't installing a Judd V8 mean rather big changes to the engine bay? thus making the car less desirable as a collecters item.

As for the 2011 car, could be interesting with an engine in the back giving a (relatively) decent amount of power.

But the question remains, who would be paying for al of this, as Pescarolo surly isn't one of the better funded teams on the grid.

Wasn't the AMR-One said to be a total turd in terms of aero? A CFD nightmare? Granted, if they just use the tub and rebuild a new car around that, maybe things can be ok. With that said, where is the time to develop that for 2012?

So does the French text, but judging from the picture in the article that is probably a typo.

This French news paper article clearly talks about the AMR-One chassis:


On the EI forum there have been hints that Pescarolo would use the AMR-One chassis.

Furthermore there were some twitter rumors that the AMR-One tub would be used by a second team besides Delta Wing.

To be honest it sounds really strange that Pescarolo will field the Dome for two races, and then use a massive amount of work and money on developing a car, which they won't even race at Le Mans.

What i expect to see is a full WEC campaign from Pescarolo with the Dome (hopefully with a Playstation sponsorship), at Spa and Le Mans, Pescarolo will run 2 cars, their "own" and a car fielded together with Dome.

Perhaps the plan is to use the AMR-One tub for Pescarolo 02, just like the Courage tub was used for the old car.

Well, I guess there are rumors that the AMR-One part might be right. If they use an AMR-One as such, well, why? If they use a completely modified AMR-One, well, why? Why spend that much money to build a new car that will only be legal for 2012 and 2013? Well, maybe another year with grandfathering, but still, why? It might be true, but I don't get it. The Dome obviously might make much more sense, but maybe their isn't enough money flowing from Japan to Le Mans to get that on the track on a more frequent basis.

Pescarolo won't field 2 Dome cars, from the news item on the Dome website:

You might have missed that Henri applied for 1 WEC entry and 2 Le Mans entries. See http://www.pescarolo.com/news.asp?news=167

Henri is being paid by Dome to run the S102.5 in Spa and Le Mans. He can use his own resources to develop the AMR-One/Pescarolo 02 and enter his own car in the WEC and Le Mans.
