(I guess this thread belongs to the Road Car Forum, but anyway...)

Quite possibly the new Nissan 350Z will be my next car. No kidding, there is an issue of the American magazine Automobile beside my keyboard right now. This car is causing an uproar amongst sportscar enthusiasts in the United States. Road & Track, another American magazine, is also raving about it.

I am going to test drive one this week, if I can book a drive - I contacted a Nissan dealership in Minneapolis and I was told that they have orders back-logged for two months!

I think Osella is referring to the LM-GT/GT-N version of the 350Z. I saw the same picture recently on Autohebdo (F), Autosprint(I) and Autosport, the car looks good amd attractive, I haven't seen pictures on the net, but I haven't searched seriously, amybe on the Nissan site (sorry, no address.....).

Hello, Folks.

Sorry for the mix-up, I was not aware there was a racing version of the 350Z being prepared by Nissan.

Yes, judging the picture (thanks, BobN), it is surely based on the new road-going 350Z mentioned above.

Pretty, isn't it? And with 287 horse-power in the road version, it might reach 400 for racing, and give Porsche a run for their money...

Is the new 350Z being sold in Europe already? Has anyone driven it?

My mouth is watering,

Porsche and Ferrari ... maybe next year Ferrari will use the 4.2l V8 engine in the 360 wich will become 420 Modena

Very nice indeed, looks like the donkeys undercarriage to me. Having run a 240Z in their heydays, I feel I should be watching out for this one. It would be great to see it at Le Mans, I reckon a class win for Nissan would be pretty popular, let's face it, we've had some great entertainment from Nismo in the past.

I think they have a good chance of challenging Porsche, but it may take a few races to get upto speed and sometime to get the reliability. However, the reliability of the R390 was good, they could be a surprise package. Heres hoping for some quality drivers. Maassen, Luhr, Bergmeister and Bernhard aren't slouches!

I heard that Ferrari will field a GT version of 550 Marinello. The 350Z on the other hand, I will be glad to see it on the track next year at the 12 Hours of Sebring. I haven't seen a Nissan GT car since the 80s of drivers like Paul Newman.

There is a Ferrari 550 in GT now. It is the XL Racing car and ran at Washington and is entered at Petit Le Mans. It isn't a works car however.
