Would make a lot of sense for them to go the ELMS route as they make the step up, especially with them having an auto-invite in their back pocket.

i think the other one would be some crappy challenge car in elms. Theres no reason to do that imho once they are in lmp2. their main target is the lm24h.

Could they get another P2 auto-invite if they win ELMS LMPC again? If so, that might be a cheap way to stock up on at least one auto-invite. Then again, that first article said something about selling/running a FLM in ALMS? I don't know.

It's not cheap, but it's all relative. You're not going to get a P2 entry without racing something and doing it with an LMPC is probably the cheapest way. Plus, if they get another bid through LMPC, they can stay in ELMS even if they don't get an auto-invite through P2 and not spend the extra money doing WEC. Plus, they can always sell that auto-invite to some rent-ar-rider who wants in at Le Mans and make some good cash out of that.

Thierry Boutsen's team will continue in LMP2 (ELMS I would imagine) as well as fielding McLarens in Blancpain, they have new sponsorship from Group Ginion (Belgian car dealership chain), drivers for LMP2 not announced yet though.

Autosport may not know what the name of the series is, but it looks like JMW is returning to the ELMS with James Walker as one of their drivers.

That's a strong entry for the ELMS. Glad to see James Walker staying on he looked to have lots of potential and speed next year.

Nice to see they are taking him to Le Mans too. They deserve a better run this year.

Endurance Info reported about AF Corse's plans for 2012 and for ELMS they have:

- Pecom Racing Oreca 03 Nissan will do both WEC and ELMS, with Ayari, Kaffer and Perez Companc

- a Ferrari 458 Italia in GTE AM with Eppe Perrazini and Marco Cioci

It is news that they have an ARX-03b though. At least that is news to me. Perhaps their old (not so old) Courage/Oreca ARX-01d can be converted to ARX-03b spec?

It would seem that way. Perhaps Newton is just putting the car up for lease/sale just to see if anyone is desperate to get their hands on an HPD P2 car quick and not have to risk not making the early season tests/races. Maybe he could get a nice payday from that. That would be rather odd though if he planned on racing that ARX-03b unless there is another car somewhere.

EDIT: Maybe Newton got some second thoughts after his Spa crash last year? Maybe his schedule is too busy to race?

Just another guess to add to the Newton speculation, but perhaps Newton did not want to do the WEC (or could not) and realized that a Le Mans bid would be very, very difficult to achieve. Maybe that took his interest away. Who knows. It's just some speculation though.
