Team radio frequencies at LM
Thinking of bringing my radio scanner to LM this June. It was a real bonus at the 2 World Rally Championship events I went to last year.
Has anyone else done this? What are the legalities of scanning in France? In England you can listen in, but can't act on anything you hear. Anyone know what freqs each team uses? Perhaps those visiting PQs this weekend will learn a few.... |

Oh well - I'll take the scanner anyway and just figure out for myself. They're always in the 450-465 range, so I'll do a big ole' search. After all, there's 24 hours (or more if you count qualifying)...

Their cost varies - there's loads of them on eBay. Mine was about $70 I think, but you can pay between $40 and $500 depending on the features. Key feature for motor racing fans is the ability to pick up a frequency range of 450-470mHz. Those are the freqs that teams usually use. It doesn't sound like a lot, but that represents some 20,000 seperate freqs. Oftentimes emergency crews and helicopter crews will use freqs in the 125-135 range, which is also where you will find regular commercial airline traffic.
Most scanners don't pick up regular radio signals. I have a small radio for that. |
