Extracurricular Driving by Champ Car Drivers

So we know that Tag is going to be doing some sports car racing this year.

Bourdais is doing Le Mans on what appears to be a pretty serious team effort.

Junquiera did some A1GP:

Sounds like Graham Rahal is trying to do Le Mans.

Obviously some drivers did the Rolex24.

Did I forget any others? It seems like CC drivers are doing a lot more driving outside of the series than ever before. I wonder why that might be.

Probably think of a few more reasons...
The schedule allows it,
They don't have exclusive contracts,
There's no substitute for track time,
And, yes, they're probably establishing contacts for life after CC, whenever that may be!

It seems sports cars are the most common place where these people are taking guest drives, which is not too surprising. That is where retired open wheel drivers go, isn't it! Heck, even some of the biggest OW team owners have established, or are establishing sports car teams. Can anything be read into that?
