The good news though is that we know it's on, we know when it's on, and we can start promoting it now rather than a month or so before the event.

The Board also approved adding one year to the two remaining years of the contract, plus one option year. "We feel that based on the agreed to provision adjustments, an extended term is a fair trade off that provides security of future programming for The Milwaukee Mile and security of market presence for the Champ Car World Series," Greenberg said. So reads to me 2005,2006,2007, option for 2008. And live on CBS. General Manager Mark Perrone. "We know our loyal fans will appreciate warmer day time temperatures, and we look forward to showcasing The Milwaukee Mile to a live CBS network audience." It's nice to see they believe in the event and the series enough to sign a commitment for several years instead of taking a one year at a time, wait and see approach. Being broadcast on CBS may have helped in the deal. Whatever the reasoning behind it, this is definitely good news.

Given the costs and attendance, the night race thing obviously didn't work out, so I'm glad they will continue to race in Milwaukee. It's always been one of my favorite ovals. Saturday just makes more sense. I suppose the only downside is that the track is going to have a hard time selling tickets for two days before the race.

Hopefully a day race will attract more fans. It'll be warmer. And since it is on a Saturday, the State Fair will have more people there, so that could translate to more race fans!
