Richard B should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
British F3 Rockingham

The British F3 series recommences this weekend at Rockingham after their 6 week break watching football!
As has been discussed elsewhere, this weekend also see the debut of pitstops. Has anybody a timetable yet?

Felipe Nasr was the surprise fastest man in the pre-race test at Rockingham today, but really I have been expecting him to make more of an impression all season, plus Raikkonen Robertson Racing seem to have a very good set-up for Rockingham.

Report and times here.

Looks like an interesting weekend ahead of us based on those times.
Changeable weather & pit stops - bring it on.

GT field has some good additions too

That was a very useful link, roys1, thanks. I've just printed off the bits that interest me before heading off to the Rock in the morning.

Good opening day despite the weather threatening to cause havoc.

Looking forward to race 2 (with some trepidation) pit stops and the full top 10 reversed and a threat of rain - pits will be mental

No each race is for a specific number of laps unless there is something like a Safety car intervention and it would exceed the back-up of of a scheduled number of minutes, if that's clear.

In race 1 it was 24 laps, which were completed, in race 2, 16, which were completed. I think 33 were scheduled for race 3, but there was a Safety Car intervention, so the 40-minute limit kicked in and they were a couple of laps short.

Both races at Rockingham today were very good.

The stop/go sprint race with a partially reversed grid, which I was expecting to be a disaster, in fact worked out very well, although there was nearly a coming together when 5 or 6 cars came into the pits at the end of the first lap and then raced each to be first out again!

Interestingly, Daniel McKenzie was the last to stop and this enabled him jump ahead of Daisuke Nakajimaa, who had led until then from pole position. Report and results. Daniel had deliberately chosen to use the best of his tyres for this race and it paid off.

The average time for the stops was 21/22s from entering the pit lane to exiting it, with a couple of 25s and Felipe Nasr showing what happened if you stalled by recording 34s. If you wanted to be mega picky, it was arguable that one or two drivers did not come to a total stop, but it was close enough. They had been practising since the test day on Friday.

Nasr did much better in race 3 by taking his first F3 win and the first of the season for Raikkonen Robertson Racing. Unfortunately the race was spoilt by some first lap shenanigans involving leading runners. Report and results.

The battle for 2nd place in the closing stages was epic, but that man Vergne emerged in front and further extended his lead in the title chase.

yea that 6 car ding dong at pit exit was cringing to watch from the pitwall, at one point i feared there would be a collision in the pits.

Which cars did you didn't stop, since i was one of three pit marshals monitoring them and SRO had a list full of Judges of Fact monitoring them and as far as i could work out everyone stopped. Although there were a few near misses.

btw, does anyone know when this meeting/highlights are televised?

I can't remember which cars i thought were marginal on the stop, but there were only one or two and it would definitely not have deserved a penalty.
I'm glad to hear that SRO had the stops fully monitored, because that was one of my concerns beforehand.

As it is I have withdraw my earlier scepticism and say that the experiment worked perfectly. Well done to all concerned.

Now bring it on as part of the 40-minute feature race.

The first TV programme will be on Channel 4 at 8:00am on Sunday, but you can always check the transmission times by having a look here. In the right-hand column about halfway down. Personally I think the MotorsTV programmes are better, because they're longer and times is what you need when there are 3 races to cover.

Unfortunately I don't have an opinion because I was running up the stairs at the time and missed it! The one lap of the weekend that I did miss.

Fortec protested Vergne on behalf of Webb and the results are here. If the Stewards were relying on video evidence that does tend to be fairly conclusive.

I don't blame Webb for being wound up about it. He was leading the race and was rudely punted off, but he wasn't to know what had been going on behind. When I was walking back through the tunnel he was running in the opposite direction, obviously with the adrenaline still pumping.
