These days you need a Bank Loan to visit a Grand Prix, it isn't exclusive to the British Grand Prix. However, this is a complete farce, Silverstone and most of the circuits in Bernie's circus would rather spend money on slow mickey mouse corners with run-off and improved VIP and Pitlane facilities than fan amenities.
I've rarely heard of fans being turned away from an event, no matter the weather. |

You rarely hear of fans being turned away from Silverstone too.
Anyway, Alonsos pole lap was sublime. |

If things like the larger music festivals, other massive sporting events or one-offs like the Queen's Barge up the Thames and the majority of the Olympic Relay had been cancelled, then maybe it would be a better comparison. Most of the larger events that I can think of have been cancelled either due to the economic climate/low ticket sales or due to clashes with the Olympics. |

If getting into Silverstone is going to be bad, getting out will be even worse!
I gave up with GP's in the mid-90's - happy smiling stewards on the way in but a free for all on the way out. Last time I went I exited via an enlarged gap in a hedge... my friends weren't so lucky and spent 4 hours getting out of the car park. After that experience I came away with the impression that the VIP/Paddock Club punters were the only ones that mattered to Silverstone. In fairness I went to the Britcar 24 hour last October, glorious weather and the 'new' Silverstone was a huge improvement but there were only a few thousand spectators. Even Bernie doesn't blame Silverstone.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/formul...estone-1136361 (link chosen just for you) Anyway, I thought the composure and control on Alonso's pole lap was the mark of a driver at the top of his game. |

Webber takes Alonso. I don't think Ferrari should have pitted when they did.

Business as usual for Maldonado.
Crazy start of the race but lost a bit of interest once it settled down. |

Couldn't understand the TV direction - cutting away to shots of "celebrities" and crowd shots when there were on track battles......

I don't understand Ferrari's decision to bring Alonso in for his final stop so early. He was still running reasonable laptimes at that point.
