I feel like Toyota has really hit the marketing jackpot with that "1000hp" figure.
Twitter is already going nuts over it, it's a very effective way to sum up the fascination behind the car in one simple figure everyone understands. They really seem to have upped their game this year. Preparation-wise, marketing-wise...if the car's quick now as well this could be a splendid season for TMG. |

Let the audience go near cars and pilote´s (racing weekend) and create app´s to people familiarize with the team´s and you might see some more spectators.
I have some ideas… but i don´t think if they are feasible. |

Theres a billion more people in China than the U.S. The gulf area middle east has super high market potential. Those are the only two areas you can say people don't care. But they do matter!

I've actually been more disappointed with some of the attendances from countries where people do care. But to put it back on topic - nothing is going to happen overnight. This series isn't even five years old yet, but there's evidence of it growing despite most of its efforts being diverted towards consolidating what's already there. Nice to see Toyota step up their marketing game a bit. People need to hear about these cars, it's one sure way of catching their interest. |

So the headlights will change again "in a couple weeks" according to their twitter feed http://twitter.com/Toyota_Hybrid/sta...05420624982016

i think the studio shot front end is quite a clever way around the inefficiency of the BHH in the front fenders.

I think its essentially a "torque" tweak, and they are not so much about fuel economy, so 6MJ( more fuel flow than 8 MJ). I like it more than Porsche, meaning they are there to compete on track not on "pit stop" numbers. Its for max performance under the fuel flows, no matter if it means more stops. Also the 1000PS (986 bhp) doubt they will make it to that levels in any occasion... though the potentiality is there... simply because it will make the hybrid release events very powerful but very very short in duration... doubt it would be the best option. Though the higher displacement and so more torque, seems to reveal they (Toyota) are for perhaps even shorter (though more powerful) events than in 2013. ~6MJ makes ~0.745MJ per event, counting 8 events at Le Mans 0.745 MJ = 745KW in 1 sec or ~ 998hp in 1 sec... to have release events of 480PS (473 hp), so to make that 1000 PS, each of those release events would have to be only (998/473) 2.11 seconds per event... seems hardly enough for anything good helping the engine. Could be interesting, but yet i maintain my forecast, Audi will have the same 6MJ -> they could also have 1000PS if they wish... (and all will be definitely set in favor of diesel as soon as they start pre-heating the fuel flow in the exhaust or the engine colling liquid... and activating it, by passing a low voltage current through the common rail tubes-> there are diesels still with glow plugs, just make it kind of permanent... do that to petrol and you "knock" yourself out pretty soon lol ) Last edited by hcl123; 27 Mar 2014 at 20:10. |

was it not that Ferrari had issue with calibration, I also doubt heavily that Ferrari wanted help from Toyota as that might let them see the car. I imagine Toyota have no issue with calibrating it with their own wind tunnel.

To go back to the earlier chat, my understanding was that the fins acted like sails mid corner to aid downforce, or at least that is what Georgio Piola suggest it was for in f1 one, it stabilizes air flow onto the rear wing. I can look out that book and take a pic of it if you want?

Get rid of the Lister LMP-inspired fenders and that'd be stunning. At the moment, it's just short of perfection
It might be confirmation bias talking, but the TS040 looks more aerodynamically advanced than the R18; there seem to be many more tricks especially around the rear wing and sidepods. |

More or less. They still have to release energy in individual release cycles, and mainly upon exiting corners in order to assist the engine upon acceleration. I actually doubt that they have much flexibility in practice as to when to make best use of the hybrid power boost.
