Alonso up for another award..

Fernando Alonso is in contention for the World Sportsman of the year award according to this link.

He is one of six in contention alongside :-
  • Lance Armstrong
  • Roger Federer
  • Valentino Rossi
  • Ronaldinho
  • Tiger Woods

All 6 are at the top of their game, may the best man win

I don't think anyone can compare to Rossi when it comes to total domination of any sport. He's the one imo.

Agreed, Rossi is the greatest there is. I have huge respect for the others, but none have achieved as much while as young in such tough sports. Valé's personality and character just seal the deal really.

I ssupect Ronaldinho will win, although I would plump for any one of them!

I'd like to see Rossi or Alonso win it though.

As a F1 fan, it's nice to have an F1 driver win it. But i feel that Rossi and Ronaldinho may be better suited to take it.

This award is for this year's achievements, right ? So going for this, it's a big fight. Federer looks like the most succesful this year.

If I had to vote, I would choose Rossi, but knowing how popular football is a sport, I think that award can be won by Ronaldinho. And apart from being Brasilian, he plays in Spain, so he is a closer opponent to Alonso.

Armstrong - 7 wins in the Tour De France

Federer - wins virtually everything in tennis

Both these men dominate their respective sports too.

I'm for Armstrong - It might be this years award but the past always counts!

There you can see the nominees for the other awards as well, Renault is nominated for the best team.

Federer is my favourite for the award, but it's not my choice. He won it last year so that might have effect for this year's result. Rossi was dominant as usual, so was Armstrong who retired after that. I don't follow golf so much so I don't say anything about Woods. Ronaldinho might suffer because there was no big national tournament last year.

Federer or Rossi ..

Lance . i'm not going there . but i don't think they can afford to give it to someone suspected of doping ..

Ronaldinho .. it's hard to say he was the best . cause he's one of eleven .. it's those 11 that win .

Women
Kostelic .. it should be her . no question about it

Team .. it should be Renault

Newcomer .. Nadal

Comeback . Lomu

PS . too much golf in there for my liking

Well i think it is well deserved and considering he has retired... The winner is .......Lance "Livestrong" Armstrong!

Returns from having testicular and liver cancer, wins the Tour De France 7 times on the trot, while raising Billions of $$ fro charity!!

I knows its a sports award but IMO he deserves every award he can get!!

Otherwise - Federer gets it for me!! unbeaten for so long... unbelievable!
