Which Ferry crossing?

So which ferry crossing are you all going to do?

This year we're going to do Dover-Calais. For the last couple we have done Portsmouth-Caen. We've also done the Tunnel a few times too.

We drive down through Rouen, choosing some nice French roads. Although we used to, in the early days, go via Paris and the round the Peripherique (which we have never found that bad).

Anyway not long to go...

The Brethren should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
We take the Calais route these days. have done Portsmoutn/Caen, Le havre and Dieppe in the past.
The atmosphere on the overnighter from portmouth is superb, but after much experimentation, we have found the long route to be better, especially with a stop off at Alencon for a good meal and rest before the onslaught.
See you in June.
Cheers
Rusty

tried the various ferry routes in the past, nowadays nothing faster than Eurotunnel plus a Porsche Turbo. I guess it helps if you start out from Kent.

Always Portsmouth out for us (just down the road!), but have used Cherbourg, Caen, Cherbourg and St. Malo in the past. Le Havre this year, as in the past 3 (I think?).

Coming from N.Wales, we choose the tuesday night sailing from Portsmouth to Le Havre. Overnight cabin with a few beers to relax and get you in the mood for the rest of the week. This means we have done most of the driving by the time we hit France, and down to Le Mans for late morning. Pitch the tent, go shopping, get the beers on ice and wait for first evening / night qualifying to begin.
Sail back from Le Havre monday afternoon (asking yourself where did the week go) with all the wine and beer to relive the past weeks happenings the following weekend hooorrraaaaa!!!
