QLD CAMS State Series
The QLD CAMS Series currently has all its rounds at Morgan Park. Obviously there is an issue between CAMS and QLD Raceways, but with other CAMS events running at QR (Shannons nationals) I thought this may have opened up the possibility of QR being included in the State series once again, but it appears that next year its all at MP again.
Anyone in "the know" have an idea as to why? As a competitor with a a car built to CAMS rules, its incredibly frustrating to only have the option of MP. Obviously there is the option of running with the numerous "miscellaneous" categories within the QLD raceways fold, but its not quite the same. |

I think you will find that there is a few reasons for things being at Morgan Park and where as some events do go to QR Willow bank. Last year the shannons where at MP. Some cat management may hire the venue at QR, others book it. If you realy want to Know , I suggest a call to QR and speak to the Manager Keith Williams or the owner John Tetley. Ask some of the clubs/organisations in Bris, IPRA Qld , FVee Qld, etc on why they dont run there.
There is a lot of heresay, but basically, its a bit like old Bob Jane, doesnt agree with every one and does/did his own thing. Actually last year the Shannons Nationals were at QR. Previous 3 years to that we were at Morgan Park. QR takes out a meeting permit with CAMS to run V8s and Shannons rounds, where MP has a year-long track permit.

I can see how it may be more financially difficult for QLD CAMS to afford a one event permit than the Shannons Nats. Maybe this is where CAMS (National office) need to step in and help out with a subsidized permit? |

Senior Moment perhaps ?
You should ask for Keith Lewis at Qld Raceway , not Keith Williams (SPIR developer/owner) - a blast from the past in the memory there !.
The cost of a year long "track permit" from CAMS is not something a commercially run circuit can sustain. Morgan Park is mostly run & maintained by volunteers - QR is not. Would you pay a fee for a whole year, that you only needed for less than a few days a year. The math is pretty simple. |
