Forsythe Sues Players

Anyone guess what's up with this?

Quote:
Gerald Forsythe, Champ Car co-owner and a team owner, has filed suit in Marion Circuit Court Civil Division against a former sponsor. He is suing Player's Company Inc., Imperial Tobacco Canada Ltd. and Player's Ltd., claiming breach of contract.

Unpaid sponsorship? Cancelling deal a season to early? Who knows?

Players had some stake in the team for 2004, correct? Maybe something to do with that?

Anything from unpaid sponsorship bills to being another tiny piece in the BAR shenanigans I guess.....

The possibilites are endless.....still, fun to speculate!

Most likely has nothing to do with champcar, but with BAR.

As most of us know, Honda has agreed to buy a stake in BAR. However that deal is conditional on all of the minor shareholders being bought out(about 10% in all). Most of the minor stakeholders, including Forsythe, were not so quick to agree to sell. Therefore BAR/BAT sued them in English court to force them to sell. Somehow using some obscure English law they dug up, the courts ruled against the minor stakeholders, therefore forcing them to sell. Also reportedly Players did have a financial obligation to the Forsythe team for 2004, whether that was met, don't know yet.

I don't see why Player's has got something to do with BAR. Surely if Forsythe's problem was with BAR he would suit either BAR, Honda, or BAT?

Isn't BAT the parent company of Player's?

Yeah I think it is. Recall all those rumours about JV comming to CC for a year while BAR rebuilt. The substance behind it was that representing players would be benificial for BAT.

It's nothing to do with BAR - he's specifically suing Players, not the parent company.

I know it is, but as it was said that he had a problem with BAR, it made no sense to suit Player's and not BAR or BAT.

But he is suing Player's, so I guess it's not related to BAR.

BAT/BAR/Players same same.

Forsythe has taken it to US courts instead of english courts:

Player's is obviously related to BAT, but not necessarily to BAR - the F1 team.
