ticket print vanishing due to exposure to sunlight!!!!! IT'S BACK!!!!!
This was posted on the Pistonheads Forum by Brian of 1st Tickets:
We met with our contact at the ACO earlier today, who informed us that they have found an unplanned "feature" of the parking and camping passes. The passes are printed on new style/type of thermal paper for 2012. The "feature" is that details of the pass, including bar code are likely to disappear if the pass is exposed to more than 30 mins of sunlight!! They have asked us to let customers and PHrs know of this problem and request that you only put the pass in your windscreen as you arrive at your campsite or parking area. Once parked, they recommend that you turn the pass round in its pouch (or put it somewhere safe) to avoid it going completely black and unusable. This is a genuine request and will hopefully reduce issues during the week of race. If we are told anything more we will certaninly let you know. Brian, 1st Tickets |

Hahahahaha this is so funny. Who is that dude with the fantastic idea to use thermal paper for parking tickets which are exposed to direct sunlight?

I can see some interesting arguments with the officials at the gates. In the past I've had to argue not to put camping passes on the screen as I've more often than not driven over in sports cars with no roof or means of the locking the vehicle, hence the issue to avoid getting passes stolen from the screen / aero screens. The gate officials really do like you to affix the stickers when you 1st arrive. Typical ACO..............

Good job I found out about this. It would be all too easy to attach it - go into the campsite and set up - then head out to Carrefour and by the time you get back the tickets has imploded!

Brian Sheehan of 1st Tickets has replied to my email. This is NOT a hoax.
Here is the email message Brian received from the ACO:- Nous rencontrons un souci avec les titres billetterie. Dear All, The paper use to print the ticket is over reacting with the heat and therefore turn black very quickly. Please inform your client or any user of the ticket not put the ticket on the windscreen. People will have to keep it in the car and give (show) it to the controleur when needed. If any of you clients have a problem with their pass turning black please revert to me with the Barre Code number or tell them to go to the Rotonde to get a new ticket (e-ticket type- old one being kept by our department). Thank you in advance for your help on this matter. Pretty extraordinary. So thanks to vincegail for the heads-up!! |

Unbelievable......and presumably means we'll need to be very careful with entry and tribune tickets kept in clear plastic wallets attached to lanyards and worn around the neck.
What a shambles. |

So is this printing situation covering all tickets (tribune and GA) produced by the ACO or just parking passes?

The original note referred to parking and camping but I'm not sure. Those tickets have the same format - just looking at them. The entry tickets look different. Don't know really.

Absolutely NOT A HOAX - our Test day parking passes are the same - we were told to put them in the glovebox when we parked - One of our colleagues didn't and it has gone totally black.

Sorry about the parking/camping passes, but good to know about the GA/Tribune tickets. I still have mine in the UPS letter carrier they arrived in. Hopefully they have SPF 48 to prevent burning while in my lanyard.
