Edmonton should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
More teams

Should F1 allow more than 12 teams?

Considering there are only 10 teams at the moment where is the 11th going to come from, let alone the 13th?

Yes. Allow as many teams as possible, and let 26 cars start the race.

No - it gets to a point where there's just too many cars on the track. In Formula One, with such differences in speed between front and back runners, any more than 24 cars will cause problems.

Plus, it's too hard for the average spectator to remember more than 24 cars & drivers! Keep it to a number thats similar to two football teams.

Though I voted yes, you should have posted more voting options - yes, but with strict performance rules (like 107% moving down to 105% or something) because I don't think it would be interesting to watch front runners overtaking backmarkers for half the race, instead of racing each other.

Yes, but keep it to the old formula of 26 car grids.

But F1 is far too expensive nowadays, and I doubt it will ever get back to the days of 1989 with 20 teams on the grid.

But wouldn't you like to see small battles ranging through the field, three of four groups of three of four cars racing together.

They could allow 50, and we'd still be lucky to have 10!

Odd question.

Actually I did read that Bernie and others had been discussing the teams abilities to run three cars, expense was put up as the barrier to this.
But, I would have thought that once all of the development work had been done and paid for, the fact that they would be using all of the same technology and know how to build a third car would make it a cheap thing to do, well cheap compared to the costs involved in getting the first car built and racing anyway.

It'd be the same as the 13th driver... he just takes the number 14 instead...

More teams will mean more cars in the qualifying runs. Those who do not make within a parameter set by the FIA will load the transporters and leave the track. Thats how it is done in other series.

Yes that would be great. More competition => more excitement (maybe ). But you'd probably have to cancel the 13th team slot and rename it 14.

I think its quality that needed. I mean if the next team is about as good as Life were in 1990 then I think it would be better to stay as we are.

The ideal is 26 cars, but it can be more than 26 applying the 107% rule.

What are you talking about Esorniloc? Life were great!

But seriously, would that result in prequalifying?

Sure I would, but not if they're gonna be "disturbed" two or three times by the front runners.

Well, Minardi are like that anyway aren't they? I remember some of the cars in previous years being lapped 6 or 7 times. What the heck is the point in that?

They definitely would have to be quality.
