Wet marshal should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Syncro motorsport 07 BTCC.

Syncro will be entering a New Civic Type R later on in the Season.

This was confirmed at our AGM in Swindon.

Self built or bought from Team Dynamics?

Self built, I would presume? Anyway, nice to have them back.

That is good news, I thought you guys were doing Britcar or similar ?

Also just to clarify a point, the TV referred to the Dynamics Civic's as Type R's several times over the weekend, how can that be when it is a 5 door ?

Not just TV - it was also listed as a Type R in the programme at Brands, last weeks Motorsport News and at BTCC.net. Maybe Honda will be launching a homologation special to get past the regs?

Back to the topic at hand, good to hear that Syncro will be back. Looking forward to seeing another Civic on the grid

Syncro

Syncro will build a "in house" civic.

That would seem like a real waste of resources as it just duplicates the effort already put in the car by TD? OTOH, Honda's in house racing team are fiercely independent.

I think it must be people incorrectly quoting/assuming as whenever TD themselves refer to the car they just call it a Honda Civic. Good news that Synchro will be back (I've not long ordered a civic type-r myself.), although my list of teams I support gets ever longer!

that would depend on how much TD were to charge Syncro.

Wasnt the original Syncro CTR originally an Arena chassis, so they could buy ' off the shelf' again

Considering the past and future support that Honda may have given them, I don't think it would be in the best interest of TD to try and overcharge/profit on a car sold to Syncro? And Syncro could then look after the engine and chassis development on their own?

IIRC, Syncro took two Civics from Arena at different points.

kmchow, Syncro is a true independant team, the only connection with Honda is that it is run by the guys at the Honda plant in Swindon. The only thing Honda contribute is a small corner of the plant which they use as their race shop. Knowing Honda they probably even charge them rent on that, so I really don't think the price that Dynamics might charge Syncro for a car would have ANY affect on any support from Honda.

It would be nice to see James Kaye out again, I missed his distinctive car last weekend at Brands Hatch.

I believe the TD cars are Type S with Type R engines.

Good news - the BTCC without Synchro and Kaye just doesn't seem quite right!

Auto Express's new car guide shows the all Type S civics are 3 doors. The previous generation may have had a 5 door Type S but that had a watered down Type R engine.

Type S available as a 3 or 5 door in the new shape.

As for Honda helping Syncro out. Unlikely, they won't even give the lads a day off for testing.

As far as I'm aware TD were given a rules break to build 5 door Type R's for the championship just as they were given a break to run a car unavailable in the UK with the Integra.

Nah, 1.8 cars are allowed to be enlarged to two litres, and the type r engine is effectivly a 2.0 version of the 1.8 so its making use of S2000 rules but unlike Chevrolet, not boring the engine out, simply swapping

Dynamics built the Integra before the ruling only allowing cars on sale in UK dealers' showrooms was enforced.

They are running a simple Honda Civic 5 door, but with the Type R engine, as that is something local homologation allows.
