Looks like the spec-engine supplier for LMP-3 might be announced at LM according to the guys at E-I:

Another option, just to throw it out there. The 'return' of McLaren (in GTE)?

Personally I believe next year's G56 attempt will be announced, so I won't hold my breath.

Well, this is iteresting! Dont expect a Mustang it seems like this may not be Ford http://twitter.com/RacecarEngineer/s...02336637550592 and if ford do come back it wont be in GTE. So what is it?

The way sports car announcements go and things are over hyped I wouldn't be surprised if it's about g56 or lmp3 engine supplier.

But you never know,I thought nissans announcement was going to be about something else not as exciting and I was wrong.i wouldn't mind being wrong again.

Personally I wouldn't mind McLaren-honda,would be way better fit for p1 than ford.

Move the press conference to race day to announce... lmp3? Thatd be anticlimactic. And what does lmp3 have to do with Le Mans if its not even a class that can race there? I hope its not that.

Ferrari is perhaps the only brand in motorsport, powerful enough to offset such an important event as race day at LM. For every other brand or type of announcement would simply be a very bad idea to use race day as a platform. An official Ferrari return will shake things down for the whole day and the night. If you have the power and you want to steal the show, that is exactly when you play it - on race day. Alonso waving the flag for the start is not a coincidence....

Thankfully it's not. They're already heavily cutting costs in DTM to finance their massive F1 programme. There's no chance in hell they put a LMP1 programme on top of that!

They are trying to expand their customer sports business, though. So I could see a P2 or P3 engine supply deal...
