As I say, this could be more like Oreca/Toyota than Joest/Audi. Oreca have only given Toyota a few mechanics to operate with and Hugues de Chaunac's expertise, it could be similar. Otherwise, could this be some sort of attempt to have four competitive Porsches on the grid, with Penske as the second team? |

In my opinion, that's the true mission of the Penske involvement! Two works cars, and two semi-works car with Penske colors, this is the answer. |

Let's not take Penske involvement as officially 100% done at this point.

Coincidence? A featured article in the current Christophorus magazine (Porsches "in house" publication) is about Mr. Penske and his years of involvement with Porsche. Also there is an interview with Fritz Enzinger regarding Porsche's return to LMP1.
Remember when Webber was at Porsche just to recieve delivery of his car? |

That may very well be the case. But, I can't imagine though that Penske would go into this if there is a situation where they are number two when it comes to development parts.

Tim Cindric denies Penske Porsche program... for 2014... at this time. Sounds like a lot of 'we aren't announcing anything yet'. |

Nothing is for '14...I've been saying the whole time since I heard this rumor, then read the story on DSC..that this is for 2015...
2015...not '14... |

You're kidding, right? Dagys doesn't chase anything down. He only repeats what he's told. He has said that over and over again. Plus he is forever saying he doesn't like to speculate or discuss rumors. Sorry but if it is not in an official press release that lad knows nothing about it.

As far as I know, John Dagys is Always looking for the latest scoop, the newest confirmable rumor, the freshest leak or slip .... he might not Report on stuff he hasn't confirmed, but he is always looking for the next stoy no one else has yet .... and he gets a lot of leaks and exclusives because the teams know him and trust him, and because they know he will get the news out to a big audience.
He posts press releases verbatim (and marked as such) but that is Far from all he does ... as far as I know. |

So Mark Webber's Infiniti contract may not let him test for Porsche until next year |

I would expect that he "chases people down" so that they can interview them and then they "tell him things "so that he can "repeat what he has been told" in print or on the web. As a journalist, I would expect he doesn't like to get involved in speculation or rumors, but sometimes where there is smoke there is fire. So report on the fire, but not the smoke. And I can't imagine why you feel he only knows what has been fed to the world via press releases as that has been proven to not be accurate. Richard |

If you'd like to believe that he's actually a real journo doing real reporting that's okay.

Wow, a lot of vitriol going on about Dagys. I thought our community was better than that.
If you want someone who endlessly reports every single rumour he hears, then fine. Dagys is one of very few journos I follow on twitter, because if he says something it's usually true. If that's not your cup of tea, then fine - not sure about the need for some of these snide comments about him though. Moving on back to Porsche, I'm hoping we'll get a leaked pic of the car.... |

In what circles? Media competitors perhaps? AFAIK he is one of the most respected sports car racing journalists out there. He reports the facts as he knows them and calls out rumors for what they are, and that ruffles a few feathers. Sure, he gets paid to go places, but how do you think these guys survive?...... on fresh air! I've met the guy and he is a genuine top bloke, with no bs involved. Sure he knows where his bread is buttered, but when you are getting paid you have to tread warily in some areas of reporting and not bite the hand that feeds you. John manages to do this without too much bias towards anyone, unlike some others (a certain U.K. based subscription sports car racing site maybe?). The media is full of oneupmanship and it sounds like you may have an axe to grind here. |
