No debrief on Turvey's outing at Brands Hatch this week? If there is, I can't find it.

New track, rookie session, plus 2 races AND the championship favourite not running! Jarvis is not going to get a better chance to show if he has what it takes.

There seems to be some doubt about who's driving for New Zealand, too, and I think Holland may also have had to replace Bleekemolen. France is trying a new rookie, but I think Duval will still race. He'll be tough to beat.

As much as i want Robbie to drive and win in Mexico, it would be better for him to get a win with a full competative line up. Even Webber doesn't think Nico's stand in will be up to much. One thing is we will be able to get a better picture on the German car versus driver with Nico not there.

Well It'd be mad not to say Ollie after that amazing performance however I reckon that was a race that Robbie could have won. It was there for the taking and Ollie took it................................... simple. I reckon as good as Robbie is, he's been getting frustrated and a little too desperate for the win. We all know that GBR can do it and so do GBR it's just been a case of luck. But recently I reckon it's been more to do with Robbie overdriving the car than the team or luck not working for him. Give Ollie another go and see what he can do against Nico and a resurgent Jonnie. I reckon we've got nothing to lose now so give Ollie a decent, competitive drive and see what he can do for 2007/8

Well done to Jarvis and team GBR.
Whilst the whole podium undoubtedly tells the story about the strength of the field on the day, you can't ask any more than beating whatever drivers are put out by the other teams on the day. |

We managed to interview John Surtees on the Podcast this week and although Robbie will be back in the car for Shanghai it seems a decision on Brands will be made after the China race. He said that it would be a "political question." Not really sure on where the politics fall at the moment??

With 3 out of 3 wins this season in Indy Pro and 4 out of the last 5, i suspect Alex Lloyd should have been given more of a chance.

It seems the decision for Brands will be tough, the team will feel pressure to pick Ollie after his win, however Robbie has an extremely strong track record at Brands Hatch.
It may make sense to put Olly in the car off the back of his win, (for promotional purposes) but the situation isn't going to be the same for him as it was in Mexico. There will be a full field of the top drivers all wanting to make a strong impression at the final round, it won't be easy for him to get a gifted win again. It'll be interesting to see how it develops. I'm sure public opinion will be very divided. |

"Political"???? What an odd comment. So surely that means the sponsors / promoters want a name driver and Surtees wants (presumably) Kerr.
So who has a following that they could get to drive that would add to the gate numbers at Brands??? Manning's out cos he has a clashing committment. Lloyd is free but I just can't see it somehow. Olly Jarvis has the form but surely would not add anything to the attendance. Adam Carroll is of course free but probably wouldn't be the subject of a tug of love which this sounds like. Only Priaulx comes to mind really but somehow I just don't believe it. |

Public opinion will be divided if you use a term like "gifted win"!
I think the only drivers that would make a huge difference to gate numbers would be Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button or perhaps Damon Hill or Mansell senior! No offense to Kerr/Manning/either Oliver etc put none of them are big crowd pullers. The political statement is weird though, highly unusual for that to be stated publically! |

Lloyd is living in America and doing Indy Pro with Sam Schmidt Motorsport so i asume would not be available even if asked.

I think it would be a bit of an insult if they didn't put Robbie in the car for Brands, i know im biased but after the effort hes put in so far he should have his home race. He has been commited to the cause all year which in my book deserves reward.

I guess its up to the team members (manager, engineer, etc.) to help the Team GB owners to make the decision ... clearly there is divided opinion if Surtees made that comment.
As with all motorsport, he who writes the biggest cheques will have the final word. We don't know what influence sponors now have. |

Sadly Surtees's comment makes me think he is one of the less likely options. |

I'm sure that if it's down to Surtees, Kerr will get the drive. Carroll would have been an interesting alternative, but he's now signed up to do the DTM with Audi. Manning's doing IRL and Jarvis apparently has a clashing Japanese F3 race, so I don't understand the 'political' comment at all.
It would only apply if MSV/Jonathan Palmer could get someone like Nigel Mansell or Damon Hill in the car. That really would bump up the attendance. I see Mansell's doing the Silverstone FIA GT round, so maybe it's not as far out as it sounds. |

If they could get Martin it would be the coup of the year. Alternatively, Johnny Herbert seems to be starting to drive again what with Speedcar coming up soon. |

Given the current state of the championship table with 2 rounds to go and the performances of Kerr & Jarvis so far this season a new (even well known) driver would show a complete lack of ambition by team GBR.
Publicity over performance? |

I agree ISPL, the truth is that the win was gifted to British driver by Alex Yoong being slow away, doesn't matter whether Oliver or Robbie were driving, they should either have won that race.
Robbie is an acknowledged Brands expert, he won 5 out of 6 races there in 2002, and led in A1 last year, so if the car is sorted he should really be best bet. |
