Noise at night? Stick decent ear plugs in and it all goes quiet

In the years when I have taken to my tent during the race I nearly always wake up when there is a safety car - you get so used to the noise that it is the silence that disturbs you..... and I have never used or needed ear plugs

I find the same thing at the le mans classic you get used to the background noise then when it goes quiet you wake up, disadvantage to camping right next to the track, but i can live with that for the advantages it gives.

I proved last year (albeit briefly) that you can nod of within metres of the cars at Arnage. If you're tired enough you can sleep through anything!

In my first year at Le Mans, 1996, the Lamborghini Diablo Trofeo was one of the support races. I fell asleep with 40 Italian V12's screaming by during their qualifying/warm up/something at wednesday. I therefore think you can sleep with any car sounds present.

I don't mean the noise of the cars... I mean the noise of drunk people trampling through the campsite at 1:00 in the morning. I obviously have a lot to learn, but I decided to play it safe... I'm a first-timer.

Yup, if the cars are on track I'm not at my tent. But I will be taking some earplugs to defend against fellow campers and their sound systems this year.

1992:
Poor race entry, dreadful weather and obnoxious Dutchmen at Arnage who insisted on deliberately playing their car stereo at maximum volume at 3am on Saturday morning.

Strangely, 1992 was one of my favourite years. Yes, poor show in terms of numbers and rotten weather, but those Peugeots and Toyotas were glorious!

Our Anglo-Danish-Dutch group have six non-numbered Houx slots for the fifth consecutive year. Before that we were on Houx Annexe one year and MB for at least four years. In the halcyon years before that my group would take a real risk and camp in the car parks which are now Bleu Nord & Sud and use the MB facilities.
Hardly risky these days, our advance party arrives Sunday 16th June .

If we are counting number of plots - then my group has 30 plots and the group has people from All over England, plus Hull (I know ), Scotland and Shanghai

I didn't mean to start a p*ssing contest, just to point out that there's no real risk in buying Houx non-numbered tickets.

We used to send an advanced party but since the days of marked out plots in MB there has been no need.

Just after getting my site booked so my group are staying at Château de Chanteloup. I stayed there the last time I was over.

I was chatting to one of my group this morning and was telling that him of all the races I've gone to over the last few years I don't think I've been as excited as for this one. This time seven weeks we'll all be settling down for the start of first practice!

Agreed, but the year was nevertheless partly ruined by inconsiderate Dutchmen and I was more than pleased to see a return of GTs the following year.

Will do . We have downsized quite considerably this year, just 3-5 at the moment, not sure where will be placed yet, we were just inside the entrance last year.
