00 Gone!!!
The longest serving Konica V8 Supercar Driver, Terry Wyhoon has expanded his small Country Victorian based Team with the purchase of a 00 Motorsport AU Falcon just before Christmas.
The ex Lowndes AU is the first Ford to be sold out of the 00 Motorsport Garage. With the Konica V8 Supercar Series getting stronger each year Wyhoon is planning to expand his small operation and run a two car Team in the 2003 Season. A second driver has already been signed to run the first 3 meetings in Wyhoon’s EL Falcon after it’s strong fourth placing at the Konica V8 Supercar race at Bathurst in October. Wyhoon is pleased with his early Christmas present and while the EL is still a very good race car there is no question that the new AU is big leap forward and will certainly help keep Terry closer to the front with the Level One run cars. “It’s been a huge decision for us to make, we have been discussing this idea for some time and it was only after our successful run at Bathurst that we seriously considered it to be an option and knowing that we now have the right people working with us we are sure we can make it happen.” Wyhoon said. Wyhoon, along with many other Konica Series competitors, is disappointed with AVESCO for allowing the inclusion of full level one run entries to the Konica Series with seemingly no penalty on points or prizemoney being made to give small Teams any chance. He believes the Series that was originally started to help new comers get into V8 Supercar racing is now turning into extra testing sessions for Level One V8 Supercar Teams. Wyhoon’s current Sponsors Lubrimaxx and Kitome are 100% behind the move and are very excited with the arrival of the new 00 Motorsport AU and will again give their full support to the Wyhoon Team throughout the coming year. “Whilst the inclusion of these Level One run entries to the Konica Series is certainly a positive sign that the Series is becoming popular it is unfortunate that it has also come at the cost of most of the smaller and less financial Teams like ourselves”. “Even with the purchase of a better car it is going to be difficult to beat the latest cars and technology that the Level One Teams bring with them but we will give it our best shot” Wyhoon says. With the expanding Team and new race car comes hope of a better year for Wyhoon, a series of disasters, both man made and mechanical plus the sad passing of his father mid year, almost forced Wyhoon to quit after the final series race at Mallala. Support and encouragement from Sponsors Kitome and Lubrimaxx and a change of crew before his successful Bathurst campaign, and the decision to purchase the new AU Falcon has turned disappointment into enthusiasm, the TWRacing Team and Sponsors now eagerly looking forward to a very competitive 2003 Series. Who is Graeme Crawford when he is at home?
I always thought Konica as a feeder series would be taking the brighter talents, and well known guys from FF, FH & GTP and putting them in these cars... I am reasonably well read in most classes in Aussie motorsport, yet some names come up and you think, where has that guy ever been.... |

its good to see whyhoon starting to progress in the V8 series , I was impressed with him in the konica race at bathurst last year in whatb surely must be the oldest car in the world and to see him move into some good machinery is certainly a good move for him.
good luck to him and I hope his team does well. |

Its always good to see privateer family teams take it up to the well funded L1 & L2 operations... the talent in the driver is there, they just have to get a handle on car setup...

Nice looking car. It's a shame we never got to see the BP scheme that was on his NASCAR T-Bird on an AU.

The car looks pretty good bondyracing, the primary problem is the State Rail Authority colour of the Lubrimaxx products...
I guess you dont care how it looks if its a good car and it wins |
