But as you say, money is always a problem and for someone who had to scrape it together for last year, might not have this year. But he was named for the squad only a few weeks ago i believe, but not now. Loose cannon's seem to do alright in ARC though, but i do stress that my opinion of her in the top 10, is that she would just make it inside the top 10. I dont think she can win, but Argiro should do alright. |

I see in motorsport News that there are quite a lot of new young drivers who have moved from Karts into the class, the racing should be wild at Clipsal and I am looking forward to it.Lookslike Davy has gone Oaksnaf

Hello, my cousins race the American equivilent of these cars, the Legends cars, so I know the action these cars are capable of, but I was wondering, do these cars have standing or rolling starts?

It will also be interesting to see how Nick Simmins goes this year, as he has a years experience behind him now. |

I think Simmons won the last round and also went pretty good in the GRM Commodore at a test day at Winton at the end of the season. He might have a bit on contending with the likes of Nick Percat who has moved to the class after a year in Formula Ford

I saw he had a post way back that said he will be on the grid in Adelaide but he didnt mention what sort of car, dont think he is one of the front runners though.

Ow well, whoever you are best of luck to yourself and your team(?) hope you do alright at Clipsal.
Just one thing, is it just like driving a go-kart. Because ive heard it is, thats why its an easy transition for karters, light chassis, easy turn in, and very twitchy at the front. But in terms of tyres/engines the class isn't as inexpensive as what many come to believe. Is that a fair assumption. |

driving style tends to be very very straight, as the short wheelbase tends to make them very pitchy around the C of G..... oh and running costs dont seem to be high at all.... unless you biff it! |

I have heard the running costs are lower than every other category that competes on such a high profile national scale and even if you have a big biff the costs of repair are relatively inexpensive compared to equivalent performance classes.
I hear there is another engine now being fitted, does anyone know about it. |

I agree with you Oaksnaf, thats what i like about them too. my missus and I allways go and have a talk with the drivers and we have both sat in cars as well which is pretty good and we got a real buzz out of. If you get a chance ask one of the teams if you can have a sit in a car and see if you can fire it up and i can tell you it is fantastic, they rev so quick.

ok news to me.....
would maybe be nice to have say the 2005 spec yamaha R1 engine in there.... but then we are talking water cooled etc etc so complicates things for that extra 60 hp the only other engine that comes to mind would be the 'Busa! 1300cc of pure power but we already have enough speed! 230kph into the kink at Bathurst in testing! :O |

How much power do they have now, imagine how they would go with an extra 60.

well they make about 125hp flywheel, and the R1 will make about 180-200 with ram air plus a nice pipe, so there is about 60 to gain but you would gain say 15-20kg is radiators plus packaging them would be a task too, plus it is EFI so you would have some more electrics etc etc...
my guess would be you would end up with a car that had a dry weight of 500, 50kg up on the current weight, but then the issue becomes what else will break now? as these cars are engineered and lifed for 125hp and not 200.... so back to reality who is going to win in Adelaide? |

I recon that knucklehead Paul Kemal will win in Adelaide, if his form towards the end of last season is anything to go buy. I think after looking at the entrants Paul will be one of the picks to win the championship as long as James Ward doesnt punt him.
ps.. i dont think that they need any more power either. Reliablity and simplicity is a winner in my eyes and why would you want to fix something that doesnt need fixing. There is one thing that i would love to see change with ARC's but it has nothing to do with the cars |

yes I would have to say paul has the runs on the board when it comes to street circuits, as they are a new animal to most....
I for 1 will be watching the way he attacks the curbs to see where the time is made up and I had a chuckle peddler! |
