Can anyone help me on this quest?

I'm trying to find a website which offers lists of results for USAC and CART championship races since their founding in 1909.

I know about the motorsport.com stats page, but their use of Adobe Acrobat to store the results makes my net connection fall over. If there's any other repository for this information, I'd love to hear about it.

Any clues, anyone?

Thanks AUSTRIA, good to see you here again.

Do let us know how the Talbot-Lago research is coming along.

Now, regarding the CART sites, I actually had Adobe Acrobat aboard the computer before I had an internet connection. Thing is, although what is offered by motorsport.com looks tantalisingly complete, it takes such an age to download any page that the connection gives up long before the download is complete.

Any remedies to this problem would be greatly appreciated, because USAC is the most glaring hole in my results resources.

You founded a whole university? Wasn't that a little extravagant?

Tim, what sort of internet connection do you have? I have a 56K modem connection, by no means a fast connection, but I have no trouble downloading the results from motorsport.com. Sure, it takes a few seconds per page, but no problem to download. Just thought I'd inform about that.

Hmm...there is a lesson to be learnt here...

When you have spent 42 out of the last 48 hours awake, it probably isn't wise to get on the net at 6.30am and open your mouth

To TimD

Every year USAC and later CART published a yearbook with all the results of the previous year in it. The Indianapolis News used to publish a 500 mile race book with all the 500 mile results in it since the start of Indy. I don't know if they still are doing that. The latest of the 500 mile books I have is the 1982 edition. Working as a Photo Journalist we used to get them at every Indy 500 race. But now I'm retired . Try to get in touch with the sports editor of The Indianapolis News and you might be able to get some of these books. They used to be real race enthusiasts, don't know how they are doing now with TG.
