Rollcentre News

Some very interesting stuff courtesy of dailysportscar.com:

bulk of the news is that Rollcentre has switched to Michelins as well as running one car with a 3.0L Twin-Turbo Nissan in the back. go check out both articles on dsc

I just hope Nissan gives Rollcentre some help with this deal.
I don't want to see this goos team go down in flames.

i don't think you have to worry about that Foster, Rollcentre is a quality operation that runs on many different levels of motorsport and are very good at what they do. from the sounds of it this deal was a very good one for them that will allow them to have some great options in the LMP ranks for 2006 and beyond

Rollcentre started out in the LMP programme being laughed at by some in the paddock but that soon turned around.

The Sebring show was simply magnificent and turned several heads.

From a homebuilt TVR Cerbera through the initial development of the TuscanR, the honing of the Mosler and the Noble and the Dallara programme too this really is a team you can get behind.

So we may see a Rollcentre run Nissan LMP in the future?
Here's hoping

I am no techy but would like to know the attributes/potential of the Nissan engine versus the Judd. I was a little surprised that Martin has chosen to drive the Nissan powered car. To me that sounds like the engine must be a big step forward over the Judd. Since the key campaign decision for 2005 was to take advantage of their reliability the change of engine and Martin's decision to drive the Nissan seems a little strange.

engine swaps seem to get en vogue these days..
i´m quite surprised that rather small outfits tear apart competitive packages
in a bid to gain reliability ...

What's that saying?

To finish first, first you have to finish.

No point in being competitive and not crossing the line, is there?
I'm sure Rollcentre have their reasons to use the Nissan motor and a good reason for Short and Barbosa to try it at Sebring. Perhaps so they know what it's like compared to the Judd in time for Le Mans?

You make a point here... if we remember how disapointing were the first Judd attempts at LM... not in temes of performances, but reliability was definitely to improve. That Judd did shorthy thereafter : that's good to have the Judd at the checkered flag now, and at impressive places ! (best of the rest against the Audi one in 2002, 2003, 2004)

I´m well aware of the reliability issues that plagued the engine Dev powerplants at the beginning ,and the corresponding lower revlimits necessary still to make the distance .
But the package seemed quite competitive last year until Martin got his encounter with Bourdais.
So my question was more related to how much sweat and bucks is involved to produce a new engine installation wich has to score better performance at the same reliability...I just hinted at this being a rather tall task for a small outfit.

Some teams look for a partnership for a long term... if Nissan provides a real partnership, maybe Judd was "only" (not pejorative) selling engines ; note that I don't know the motivations, I'm just speculating... Martin could certainly help here !

I think it probably asks more questions than it answers!

What is Nissan's long term aim (?) being perhaps the most obvious

Odd, though... Nissan let go some quite bad news lately...

Oh well, we'll see...

Short - - but interresting news from Martin, on Infocourse : "the Nissan will be very close to the Judd, less powerfull but with more torque"...

Fingers crossed, Martin !

Remember what Nissan was to do for Couage back in 1999? That was a great program.
Now we can only hope that this does not turn into what that was.

I got a question for ya...what is Rollcentre?
It seems this man Martin Short has a ton of loose pocket change to throw at sports car racing. British GT, LMES, this deal with Nissan, he has some big kahuna's, and some deep pockets to be able to fit the bill.
