Toyota does not just seem to have upped their performance, they have also picked up their marketing game by the looks of it.
Their presence at the circuit seems much improved with hospitality buildings, Toyota adverts trackside etc. Cool to see. |

Both Toyotas already in the 3:25s.
I was expecting an advantage of at least 1 sec compared to Audi, but the gap might be much bigger than I feared |

That's all good and well if you just want to see Toyota win (nothing wrong with this either). But for those of us who wanted a race ...

I meant that as in Audi and Porsche may just as well pick up some more pace in qualifying. I guess smiley face at the wrong place.

I think they will too, but Audi won't find as much as Toyota. Qualy battle between Porsche/Toyota will be immense though.

I wouldn't give up on the race after free practice. If Toyota continues to have a speed advantage, all it will do is give them some wiggle room for problems and hiccups.
They have the disadvantage of having a car less than Audi...so it's nice to see them have an advantage in another field. It means nothing, 24h races are very rarely decided purely on speed. |

Theyll have a fix for it before the race. Whats good to know is this was found now so it can be addressed. Their press release indicates what I thought- they were running race evalutions in qualifying 1, checking the setups.

They havent suffered much from it. If they changed it before the practice sessions the times are still impressive.

Perhaps, but the automatic brake balance system might have helped them in traffic or with tyre wear.

These late alterations to the braking system will most likely impact the amount of drivers' adjustments. This is not necessarily good news for the drivers which were up to now relying upon an automatic or semi-automatic systems to adjust brake balance.

Doubt there will be any significant effect on the performance as Buemi, Davidson both have F1 experience so not a problem adjust ing it manually I guess.

Did Porsche and Audi know about the system since Spa...Of course. They probably figured they would attempt to ruffle Toyota's feathers at the very last moment.

I don't know what it was about the weight distribution but the nose of that car sunk like an anchor when they raised it. Why did Sarrazin stay in the car?

Funny that the way RCE article talks about the legality of it reads really like a Toyota official press release. I guess the legality of its system has a lot to do with the new clarification (which can also be found from the RCE article), which allows mechanical automatic adjustment of brake bias correlated with brake pressure. And the change required by FIA/ACO was declared before free practice.
In conclusion, yes they are legal now. But it is still open to doubt on Silverstone, Spa, and Le Mans test day. |

That was the lap in which the #7 hit 343 shortly before the first chicane while passing the LMP2 car, sadly the telemetry overlay is missing here.
