WSR Fan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
FR3.5 Series: Round 9 - Jerez

So, the final round of the FR3.5 series this weekend at Jerez in Spain.

It's the end of an era in many ways; the final season of 3.5 with Renault backing before RPM take over and the final World Series by Renault weekend before Eurocup FR2.0 and the Renault Sport Trophy join the ELMS package next season.

The drivers' and teams' titles may have been decided already but the rookie of the year and third place overall are still very much up for grabs.

Tom Dillmann starts race one from pole with champion Oliver Rowland alongside him. Jaafar is third with Vaxiviere in fourth.

Sorry WSBR you lost my interest when you decided to start the race under safety car. Ridiculous, why not just go all the way and ban ANY running on a non dry track?

To be fair, they're taking their example from Formula 1, where it is now too unsafe to have cars racing on a circuit that requires full wet tyres.

Rowland showing his class once again though. It was clearly too late in the race for slicks, the Spanish sun would've had to be shining in all its glory for that to work!

the humidity was still too high for the track to dry out if you ask me, it was warm enough (i think around 22-23c at that point) but if the air's already heavy it ain't going nowhere!

the last eurocup race this evening was completely correctly stopped, it probably shouldn't have got as far as a single lap under the safety car in the first place really. that was proper lake fell out of the sky stuff.

personal opinion is that starting under the sc, doing a few sighter laps and then letting everyone go to be a decent compromise between having a standing start go spectacularly wrong and not letting them out at all until the surface water has cleared a bit. i want to see a race. if that has to start under the safety car to make sure nobody drives into stationary cars due to spray blindness then so be it.

I agree with bella on the issue. I don't like it when they're too cautious and leave the SC out for too long, but I'd rather have a race then endless pointless and avoidable accidents.

eurocup qualifying is currently suspended whilst the weather gets this latest rain shower out of its system. anyone know how they decide on a grid if they can't hold a qualifying session?

Practice times? But with one group having run, no idea. Maybe they just take the existing times, although that is only 3 times. Renault currently checking track conditions as I type...

Well it was Rowland on pole but he messed up on the first lap and handed Nyck de Vries a lead he'd never lose. It's taken a long, long time to get that win that Vaxiviere stole from him in the 2nd race of the season at Aragon, but he's done it! Rowland fought back to 2nd, ahead of Vaxiviere, who had contact with Orudzhev whilst fighting for 2nd in the race.

Stoneman didn't start though. His season has really been a bit odd. Ups, downs, random luck, no wins though and that could be crucial considering his RBR rookie status and Pierre Gasly's improved form in GP2...

Stoneman did start,he got clobbered on the run to the first corner and the right rear suspension broke.

That bloke has had a dreadful run of luck which derailed his season. In the early rounds he looked very solid.

Saw that in the highlights Renault Sport posted on Youtube. Where will they be now it's not in Renault's hands???!!!

Some of it has been bad luck but sometimes he has had surprisingly poor pace. de Vries ended up 35 points clear of him, and he fell from 4th in the standings to 6th after the last race. Whether that's good enough all things considered we'll have to wait and see...

I'm pretty sure the whole commercial side such as tv package will absorbed by Euroformula Open and GT open.

I'm confident that full races will streamed through youtube.
