The second car is too strange. Melted down. Forget about it. I really like the first car's arrow-shaped front wing, but only for ovals. I don't like the curved rear wing, they must be completely flat from a rear view.

Less engine-covering bodywork = less ad space. That won't happen.

Seriously, I didn't understands that mushroom thing. What is that device?

Air hoops aren't enough. Strong airboxes should be compulsory. I don't want to see Pedro Diniz at Nürburgring or Gonchi RodrÃ*guez at Laguna Seca anymore.

but does any one want Indy car which should be an Apex/Pinnacle/end step form of racing to look like a smaller feeder formula series?
To me, the Formula Nippon car looks like an evolution of something from CART/Champcar, rather than a GP2 style car.

Oh well, Lola are sure to come up with something good

Is it possibile that IRL will approve more of a project and we will see two or more chassis from 2012?

As far as I recall the roll hoop had nothing to do with Gonzalo's fatal injuries.

It has four wheels at least. I really hope this car is something special.

The covered car seems to show two conventional (albiet quite large) front wheels. That could easily be a decoy though...

If the IRL don't take on the Delta Wing then I hope all the teams behind it leave and form the Delta Wing Series.

I was 12 at that time. The fact that he landed upside down on sand with a thin tube as protection to avoid hitting the ground with the helmet surely didn't help.

The site that posted these has pulled those images down...

I hope that this is NOT the Delta Wing chassis...It looks like a Buck Rogers rocket from the campy 1950s Sci-Fi movies...

Besides, I don't see how something like this could be nimble on a road course, let alone a high speed oval like Indy.

Indeed, the car posted above is a horrible thing to look at.

A lot of people are going to be reaping what they sowed.

All these different artist impressions tell me no one at the irl has any clue what is going on or what to do for that matter.

This Delta Wing concept isn't even particularly innovative! Its just an odd shaped lightweight novelty really. Swift seems to have put alot of engineering AND fan thought into it (although the swift lights seem a bit cheesy..) and Lola have their plans too that we have yet to see.

Those renderings are not the Delta Wing car.

The IICS management knows what to do, pulling it off without creating an uprising will be the problem.

There is already a strong coningent of owners backing the Delta, and public sentiment obvously has nothing to do with the outcome of the chassis selection.

The question only centers around how the owners are handled, and how they react when the Delta is is not chosen.

I agree with many of your points...

But guess what, gang?

Those Buck Rogers images ARE the real deal...

http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/artic...-wing-project/

The designer does have some interesting things to say about it in Robin's column, though...

JagTechOhio's point about the team owners' reaction to this, if or when it isn't chosen, is spot on...

After seeing that, I'm going to have to go with the Swift. I know its "cheaper" but it looks cheaper too.

If Dallara stuck 2009-rules F1 wings to the current car, I'd still choose it over this Delta Wing dragster.

So much for inside sources. One of the design team assured me last night that the leaked photos were wrong.

This race car is a bad joke.

Watch the video simulation of two Deltas at Mid-Ohio.

This is a joke.

The Dallara deal is probably already carved in stone because of their confirmation that they will build in the Speedway redevelopment zone.

This presentation today takes a big load off of selling the final decision to the public. This submission is easy to marginalize.

The only question is how earnestly the owners who support this project wish to promote it.

It's the Top Gun Days of Thunder Tom Cruisemobile

What an abomination. What an awful proposal. I hope it never sees a race track, for the sake of the drivers, the fans and the motor racing world - it does not deserve to be blighted by such a creation

Saviour of the IRL? In the same way that Gordon Brown saved the world? Yes, that's quite an accurate comparison, because like Gordon Brown, they're just going to get laughed at
