Salo less than a second behind Bergmeister. The gap was ~25 seconds after the penalty.

Audi was lucky with the safety cars, they spent more time in the pits than the rest of the top prototypes. The best lap times for the top 7 were between 14.1 and 15.1.

Once again another cracking race, action non stop all through the race. At 1 point for a short time I thought Audi might not win, still I guess that was just wishful thinking. At least they had to work for it today though, nice to see Aston Martin winning in GT1 again too.

I cant wait for the 2007 season, Sebring will be fantastic with the new cars that are on the way.

too many penalties, too many safety cars breaking up the flow. Still a good race though

How did Adam P (can't say his name, let alone spell it) do in the LMP2 Radical on his debut? Heard he was running.

Indeed... the mistake of getting into the pits when they were closed killed the Zytek race, it was a huge shame!
In the case of Creation clearly Primat had trouble getting in the rhythm spinning repeatedly until McNish rammed him from behind. However Minassian was up there again after the cautions finishing in the same lap. It was pretty close but it was in their own hands as JAG states.

From what I heard they were due to pit anyway, if they'd stayed out they would have run out of fuel on track and caused more hassle for everyone.

I have one question regarding the Creation car. And I would have asked them directly, but they were a bit busy when I was by their garage. How is it that the Creation car can match the Zytek for pace around a place like Laguna with wheels that are not as wide? It seemed like many were saying that they could use more grip around Laguna, yet Creation were spot in qualifying and fairly close to Zytek for race pace. Interesting. Hopefully they can move up to the wider wheels for next year.

I don't think grips the problem, it's durability.

Well no I agree. But I thought that fact interesting. Although wider tires would help them double stint tires, which would keep them out of the pits.

No substitute for horsepower, and the Creation's bigger engine certainly seemed to help it in the stretches between turns 11 and 2, and turns 4 and 5. It actually pulled away from the Audis on both straights, so no surprise that it would be quicker than the Zytek given the Zytek's smaller engine.

I have to say, it was a terrific weekend of racing, and I'm glad I went on Friday as well as Saturday. Beautiful weather, decent crowd (not too big), close racing, open paddock with good access to drivers, and all those fabulous cars....

Ah yes, the crowd, thanks for the reminder. Am I wrong in thinking that the turnout looked a bit smaller this year? I could mistaken, as I'm not so good at estimating that. Guess we'll see what the official estimate was.
