Is anybody entering or planning to go to the Rally Masters at Calder this weekend?

I believe Jim Richards will be there, competing, but only on Sunday.

According to Clader Park, at this stage there's about 40 entries.

I think I should be there as a spectator, don't think the old magna would cope with it!

40 entries - I was going out - was.

Like to see the market research that went into staging this event ... the Calder Park crew promoting the event down at the Philip Island Historic meet were so well prepared they were not able to give interested parties an entry form (contrast the Historics team that set up the display & organised the Bob Jane signings).

If only 40 entries, the CEO needs to reflect on his club sport background - 40 entries would be fine for a rally, but ....

How can it be called "Rally Masters" when all the 'real' rally masters are competing in Canberra this weekend!!!

What type of an event is this so called Rally Masters supposed to be?

another Out House production

I did not go today - a report from anyone who did, is it worth $40 for Sunday?

Speaking to a Targa Tas/Classic Adelaide/Mt Buller Sprint competitor he was of the impression it was for rally cars not tarmac cars.

The promotion of this event must rank with the 2006 Calder calendar - another OUT House production.

Not too much was happening, well, until those young chaps took that older skyline to the motorkhana course.

My highlight of the day, was being told I was standing in a restrict area, too dangerous for spectators due to snakes. (yep, I was near the tank, looking down on the dome)

Darren House (Calder CEO) was right by saying the event opens up the sport to a whole new range of drivers, who previously couldn't afford to take part in other tarmac rally events. However, it would have been more enjoyable as a spectator if the event had the backing of a few car clubs to boost participation.

I feel the concept of rallymasters is quite good, but the execution had rather large room for improvement.
