being connected is all part of the game, my friend. always has been and always will be. same with absolutely anything in life, be it sport, employment or leisure.
if you're a connected or very open person, then you either have someone important on your side who has a stronger belief in your talent than the cock-up or you come out and be completely honest about how and why you cocked up. if you sit in a corner and refuse to talk about it and try and learn how not to cock up then nobody's going to listen to why it happened and why it won't happen again. you just get a big black mark against your name. it's also totally chicken - not facing up to your mistakes and learning from them isn't very brave or mature.

Max wouldn't have seen the inside of a F3 car let alone an F1 car if Dad hadn't bought a team. He went straight from Go Karts to F3 at sixteen, never had to bother about actually racing and proving himself against his peer group....
Good opportunity for Bianchi to shine though imho.

Well..boot a GP2 champion (Glock) and replace him with a GP2 backmarker (Chilton).
Then try to even things out with Ferrari talent. :/

Lets now forget that the Chiltons are famous for harassing the teammate as well as supplying a bad car. Lets not forget the living hell TOC and Nash had to go through when they were Tom Chiltons teammates in BTCC/WTCC.
Jules will get the boot from Chilton SR in a year because Jules will inevitably do better than Max. Same fate for TOC and Nash as well.

Very few drivers are both very talented and well funded - either or and seems to have been that way for as long as I can remember - which is quite a long time!
You can screw up as many times as you like, if you can pay for it.
On a similar vein this why we see the same old faces turning up in series year after year.

You obviously paid zero attention to the 2012 GP2 season.

so 4th place now equals backmarker?
also they didn't get rid of glock for chilton.
pic left to be replaced by chilton
they got rid of glock for razia, then razia got replaced by bianchi

Chilton obviously wasn't a backmarker in 2012, but I've said before, I have a feeling that his suddenly upswing in pace was much more to do with the Carlin team really getting to grips with the car and tyres rather than Max doing something exceptional behind the wheel. We'll see this year with Nasr obviously.

I see where Heikki Kovalainen has become Caterham's test and reserve driver starting in Bahrain. It looks like the team want an experienced driver to help their new drivers to help evaluate developments.

Why didn't they keep him? Can't have been money because they are probably paying him a massive wedge just for a couple of hours work.

what's more interesting in this whole thing is that they're testing the first of their 2013 parts on friday.
that's madness.
