Marshalling @ Combe 2012

In my quest to fill up the diary for next year, Castle Combe have updated their 2012 calendar. Training day looks set for 11th March.

Really looking forward to next year!

Combe is a wonderful place, never had much success racing there, even blew an engine in scrutineering once not so long ago, didn't put me off the place though!, Now I'm in the Orange army I will certainly be contacting them for a bit of Marshaling next year, Anyone got any details/contacts? I can get the dates but is it one of those venues where you need to know someone or are they generally keen to see us Londoners? (such a great place I might even consider going even if the sight of a Brands badge makes them spit!!!)

I make a trip across to Combe a couple of times a year when when not otherwise occupied at Brands and so far I have found everyone most welcoming - indeed some familiar faces from Brands and Thruxton.

they have an online marshal registration and availability system http://castlecombe.marshal.me.uk/

Thanks for that Dave, Not sure when I will be planning next years fun, still got half a dozen dates to get through this year. I'm thinking that is isn't easy planning which dates to do. I must admit that I have found the, what shall I call them, "less high profile" days to be the more enjoyable, so I will see what's what.

Combe is by far the friendliest circuit I've been to. Sadly not managed to get there this season but hoping to do at least a couple of events in 2012.

I tend to agree - you often get far better racing at smaller clubbie meetings and on the whole I find tend to be appreciated more by the club/drivers .... and of course with often fewer marshals at these meetings there is usually more to get involved in and learn from

As for choosing which meetings to do ...... always a challenge I save for the dark winter months of circuit downtime

RNHodge should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Sorry to dig up an old thread folks but since work screwed up my watch pattern last year i ended up working alot of weekends. Next year i am determined to actually get to the training day in March and hopefully the Historica before i'm away again in April!! (Yipeeee ) My dilema is whether to purchase a set of AWS Overalls when i may actually only get the opportunity to wear them twice in the year... or just buy some Orange top & bottoms and some foulies to wear as/when.

Thoughts?

I use a set of AWS trousers and then get orange long sleeve shirts and orange fleece, with a orange dayglow rain jacket.

The good news is Combe's posts are covered.
Unfortunately if it's sideways rain like Thruxton last week then they won't stop much.

Am looking forward to the Minis.

Hi

It's my third time as a marshal, and the third time the weather has been heavy rain!!!

Good news is I'm getting used to it, and think its normal now :-)

Whilst dropping my son off in Bristol recently I realised that Combe is sensibly do-able from home-hoping to get there next year then.
