Toyo Tires 24h Dubai 2008
Not exactly Le Mans, but I think some people might be interested in it since it's winter and they'll (like me) take all the racing they can get.
You can find the entrylist here: http://www.24hdubai.com/default.asp?...20Teams%202008 And the timetable here: http://www.24hdubai.com/default.asp?...e=Time%20table There are tons of Porsches on the entrylist, but there's also an Audi R8 and a Ferrari 430. Motors TV will broadcast the event (not sure, how much of it, though) |

So essentially the cars are modified NGT/GT2/GT3 cars to approximately GT3 specs? Sounds like a cool concept. I prefer some wild super cars in my racing, and I suppose some of those more radical silhouette cars are super enough. Pretty cool despite the large number of amateur drivers, of course those guys do need a place to play. I'd like to see video of some of those cars in action and that Audi CR8 or whatever it is intrigues me. I'll keep an eye on it.

E46, so the old one. I think they used one of them at the Silverstone 24hrs as well.
http://duller.jgsm.de/default.asp?show=fahrzeug02 According to a Thread at GT-eins.de Duller have abandoned the Z4 programme. A Z4 victory would have faced quite the uphill battle anyway, as Proton is entering their LMS-997 RSR with Westbrook/Nielsen/Simonsen/Ried and there are several other GT2 cars on the entry. The next big BMW thing will be a Schnitzer-prepped, works-supported M3 I'm sure, and I expect that one to hit BIG. |

Prospeed also has a fast Porsche (a highly developped 996RS that has beaten Vipers, LM600's, Moslers,... in the past). Konrad and Proton have a slightly faster weapon but the Prospeed Porsche should be very reliable. |

Adrian Newey (THAT Adrian Newey) and Joe Macari finished 4th in LMGT2 at Le Mans in 2007. They are driving the only Ferrari 430 on the grid and it's a UAE-entered car. There are a couple of other competent pilots in the equipe. Looks like a strong entry if reliability comes their way...

It is a very nice raceweekend with a good atmoshpere, and the quality is increasing every year. I always enjoy being there. Interesting mix of hobby racers with a number of professional high quality teams, and equally interesting speed differences between competitors.

Looks like a Porsche-parade so far. The Audi and the Ferrari are way off the pace. |
