Last year the same engine was used in a GTI, that ended up 8th overall and won it's class (24hr Special, 2l Turbo).

well that's good news.

Go-go-go Scirocco!

Am i too guess that pace wise, the top class is maybe a little faster than GT2, or around the same pace? It seems more modification is allowed but thay aren't quite as quick.

There isn't really a "top class". The overall winners are expected to be in SP7 (3.5 to 4.0l, 1250 kg) or SP8 (4.0 to 6.2l, 1300 kg).
The RSRs therefore run in SP7. They are heavier than in GT2 spec, but don't have to use air restrictors.
We might see a surprise winner from SP8 though...they got a 50kg weight break this year - that's probably why Alzen decided to try another turbo.

Uwe Alzen isn't driving for his brother Jürgen this year, so the potential for record laps is somewhat limited. The other drivers on the car are certainly fast but no ringmeisters like Uwe.

Bernard Bram has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Make that Scirocco RWD and put a V6 in it. Could be a candidate for GT2.

Yes, but then you've changed where the drive goes and it isn't legal anymore.

Add that to the GT2 car topic!

He's driving Porsche Supercup that weekend so he's not going to be at the N24 at all.

Porsche Cup (dunno if Super- or Carrera) for I don't know who, and ALMS for VICI. I don't think he has a gig for the 24hrs yet.

EDIT: For further details see cmk's post above.

I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to try the turbo at some point...not sure if it will happen this year though.
Actually, I'm not even sure the turbo will be at the 24h after what happened last week.

It's Supercup as far as I know. The VICI thing was only for Sebring.

Porsche supercup at Monaco - don't see why Uwe he couldn't do both:

Practice Thursday 16:15 - 17:00
Race 1 Friday 09:30 - 10:15 clashes with Nring practice
Race 2 Sunday 09:45 - 10:15

People have done longer races on the same weekend... Someone who RLM interviewed last year had just come back from (IIRC) a Belcar race, and they ain't sprints!

Just got back from the VLN race...the Alzen turbo was there, and to my knowledge it didn't even burn down. But it still failed to finish...there's no way that thing is going to last 24h at this stage.

Did I get it right, listening to Midweek Motorsport last week, that the RLM crew will be back this year? Who is sponsoring them this time? Is it Aston Martin again?

Where do we N24H fans need to send our "Thanks!" to?
