Noske looking for a ride

Driver Mark Noske today confirmed he and WPS Racing were parting company as both look towards securing long-term arrangements for the 2005 season.

The decision, which was amicably agreed by both Noske and WPS Racing team owner Craig Gore, would give both parties the balance of the current season to firm up plans for next year.

“It has been a difficult year and it is well chronicled that I missed the first three races of the season,” said Noske.

“Since then the results haven’t been as strong as we expected and Craig and I have had discussions about where we are both heading next year.

“The upshot of the discussions is that we have decided by mutual agreement to go our own ways so we can both focus on progressing plans for next year.

“I appreciate the way Craig has handled the whole situation. It has been discussed in a professional manner and we can now both get on with future plans.”

Noske will leave the team immediately.

An announcement on a replacement driver will be made ahead of the next round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Sandown.

Gore said he was disappointed at a personal level that he and Noske were parting.

“I have a great regard for Mark personally so this is a difficult announcement,” said Gore.

“We sat down and I made it clear where WPS was heading next year. After a number of discussions we decided that in the interests of giving both parties suitable time to prepare we would part company immediately.

“Mark gets to pursue a drive for next year with another team and we can move forward on our planning.”

Shame for Mark, hard to get good results with a late start and anew team, hope he gets another shot.

So does this mean Alex Yoong will now get a seat for the rest of the year and 2005?

whoever it is going to be would more than likely be filling that seat for 05. does that mean noske is out for sanddown and bathurst? if so, who fills the vacant slot there?

I reckon Noske may head to Fraud Performless Retards just to get away from Craig (motor mouth) Gore.

I wonder what brought this on? When I spoke to Bezzy on Friday he was enthused about driving with Mark at Bathurst.

There is a history of Tony Noske falling out with the teams that Mark was driving for, followed quickly by Mark's departure. I wonder if this is the case again.

Certainly Mark's driving hasn't done anything to warrant him disappearing. And why would he when there's really not anywhere else for him to go in the short term. If it's so amicable, why is he out of there immediately?

My question is has young Mark ever really had a stand out drive?

In a 35-odd page driver contract, there could be an out-clause based on any number of situations.

Craig Gore has said publicly that his driver contracts include clauses on when a driver can drink, weight, and any number of other clauses that 35 pages could carry.

I am by no means speculating that anything mentioned is the reason or isn't the reason, but it surely sounds like there is something there that has given one party or the the other, or both, the reason to split.

Not since he was in a reasonably stand out car (HYL) where he was quicker than the Kelly Boy at Bathurst.

I don't think Mark has ever had any really top shelf equipment in the V8's. Hopefully he can get some soon. Maybe GRM would be a good place to go. Being in a Ford has not done him a lot of good.
All the best in your endeavor to get a good drive in 2005 Mark.

Maybe Mark decided to ask Craig Gore about the rumours, and things got worse from there.

Hope you land a better drive, Mark.

What's that all supposed to mean, TSR?

Are you implying that any team that Ross Cadell talks to should have nervous drivers? I mean, come on, be fair!
