Is Fernando Alonso losing it?

According to sky sports news, Alsonso is saying that Mclaren is giving Hamilton preferential treatment because he's british and mclaren are a british team!!

is he loosing it? He didn't deserve a result on sunday because of his very poor drive.

He's throwing the toys out of the pram and I always felt this was going to happen because of the reletionship between lewis and ron?!

any views?

Not according to Autosport.com.

Ok he's having a few problems against Hamilton in an English team, but he's being positive. Nobodys said it was going to be easy.

Get off the guys back!

Does anyone in the world have a sense of perspective?

It is either the best or the worst, never in the middle.

Anyway we now know that Sky News is a pile of rubbish, so lets ignore it.

Trying to put the whole thing in perspective.
McLaren had FA as there banker for the championship this season and he cost them a lot of cash. LH was a unknown, as far as F1 went, but they decided to have punt with him. And, it's worked out fine so far. So they have a strong driver line up that should be delivering the points. For some reason FA has done a couple of banzai moves, in Spain and Canada. FA seems to be cool about the whole thing.
Meanwhile the Brit media is stoking the fire at every opportunity. Every word spoken is being analysed and spun because we need to have a popular sporting hero.
The bottom line is that either or neither of the drivers could be Champion.
What they do on the track is in their and RD's hands.
With 11 races to go it's too soon to call. I don't think Canada, fun as it was, is a good indicator of how the season will end up.

He is happy at McLaren though.

Last week Hamilton was unhappy with it all. Now Alonso is. Can anyone not see a pattern here?

Well he shouldn't be if beaten.

Notwithstanding the reporting on this is dreadful, from both the non-specialised and specialised press. There job should be to give emphasis to the real meaning behind the quotes. However I think it is clear that they don't do this. They take a small part of the quote and build a sensational story around that. And a poorly written one at that.

Still though, it works, doesn't it, just look at the reaction.

You can't win if you're an F1 driver.

If you toe the party line and stay on-message when interviewed, then you're a boring corporate drone. A puppet. A sad indictment of a sport once the domain of outspoken characters and high-living daredevils. However, if you veer off the the beaten track, and offer any sort of interesting opinion or insight, then you're a whiner or a loser. An arrogant child spitting his dummy out.

This is rediculous. The guy had a bad race. It happens. Just because he's a two time champion doesn't mean he can have a bad race once in a while. Lets also put into perspective that he went up against the best and beat him (schumacher) twice.

If it weren't for the stupid rule and the stop and go penalty, he'd probably been on the podium in 3rd if not 2nd and only 2 or 4 points shy of hamilton.

Hamilton is good...very good, but come on. Fernando is a two time champ. He's not losing "it". The guy had a bad race and was unlucky at the same time. It could have easily been Hamilton that got screwed in the pit strategy if Alonso had beaten him to pole.

Want some cheese with that? 2 times WDC or not he is showing his class, or lackthere of. 1st credit Lewis's first F1 victory to "luck" instead of great work from Lewis and the team. Now this. It seems diversity does not build character, it reveals it.

I'm a little more concerned with what FA's been doing ON the track than off the last couple races.

Sure, he got screwed by the safety car lottery. But let's not forget, he blew the last chicane in quali which would have got him pole (he was purple in 1 and 2 at the time) and he went off THE SAME CORNER 3 TIMES losing positions 2 of the 3 times.

That's 4 mistakes in the same race from a guy who doesn't usually make 4 mistakes in a season! One has to think the pressure is getting to him a bit.

He needs to regain his composure and drive within himself again. If he can do that, I'd still favor him to win it all.

Oh, you mean Mark Webber?

Seriously, I don't really care about press interpretations of things. All of these guys are professionals and I assume they don't see things nearly as heated as the press portrays it by showing off some choice snippets.

Both current McLaren drivers are professionals to the bone, each already having achieved something quite spectacular in his circumstances. Of course they'll be in bad moods at times, feel wronged or overwhelmed, but ultimately both will concentrate on what matters: The racing, giving their best.

Is Alonso Losing it?...well i wont go as far (or even as close to as far) as the media have been going, but one thing is clear, Alonso seems to have lost something off the start. whether it was just the vaunted Renault launch system which gave him an advantage, but without it he has on 2 occasions now, messed up his start and first corner entry, and both times, his coming back on track after going off were reckless to say the least.
its almost as if he is trying to win the race in the first corner, which for Alonso is really out of character.

he's not losing it, but it is a different Alonso this year as compared to his 2 wdc years...early season consistency were the corner stones of his championship years so it will be interesting to see how he responds in the remaining 11.

Would it be fair to say that on those occasions where Alonso finished behind Hamilton that the reason for it was preferential treatment going the way of the rookie ? I don't think so.

Oh well! Who cares?

I am sure Nigel Mansell didn't mind being Piquet's team mate, or Prost being Lauda's team mate!

He just has to get on with his job and stop complaining! As someone said on a previous thread, he finally has a team mate who is up to challenging him!
