Ascar
Watching the first round of Ascar on Motors TV I noticed some of the pit crews wearing what appeared to be cycle helmets as protective headgear some crews were wearing crash helmets ??? wonder what the requirements are.
Also in the pit lane but not over the wall were children is this allowed at Ascar. |

Alan, the allowance of children into the lane between the garages and the low wall is (much to my dislike) allowed, apparently this area is not considered part of the "working pit lane"

Thanks for the reply Jason, I wonder how the circuit would stand if someone not signed on or a child was injured in this area during a race.

My understanding is that it is classed as Paddock so it would be the same as say, behind the garages anywhere else.

Alan,
During the race no children are allowed in front of the garages either in the hot or cold lanes. The area in front of the garages in the cold pit lane are open to the public as are the rear of the garages as D of T believe in being accessible to the public and are welcomed by the teams. Below is an extract from the DoT website. Day's of Thunder the fan friendly series As with other seasons the Days of Thunder Championship sees the paddock area open to spectators all day with no additional charge or pass required. This gives the fans to get close to the stars and cars of Europes fastest motor racing series. Through the day the teams and drivers will be around the paddock and pit garages (not lock away in motor homes like some series) and will gladly chat to you and sign autographs, although just before and straight after a race may not be the best time to aproach them. There will be posters and other freebies given away and at the first meeting Team Renegade Racing will be raffling £250 worth of Teng Tools in a raffle courtesey of the sponsor of the #20 car Teng Tools. Just visit the Renegade hospitality at the back of thier pit garage and get your free raffle ticket. Please be aware that teams will not want people in the pit garages whilst they are preparing the cars to race and that under 16 years olds are not allowed in the pit garages. Enjoy yourselves but please be careful. |
