The Factory backed RX7's @ Bathurst in 1992, 1993 & 1994 did not have the 120L Fuel Tank. They had the standard tank and stopped every hour. In 1992 the team elected to pit the Greg Hansford Car early, to break up the pitstops between the two cars, but the cars stopped every hour for fuel. The Fitzgerald entered 968 ClubSport Porsches in 1993 & 1994 on average, stopped about every 1 1/2 hours. It was a great contest both years. Interestingly in the final year at Bathurst in 1994, Peter Hopwood ran his RX7 considerably longer on fuel, some 15 mins from memory by sacrificing a few seconds a lap to the team mazdas. In late 1994/early 1995 the RX7 SP was homologated by Mazda/ Allan Horsley to compete in the race, it had a rear wing & larger fuel tank and other bits and pieces, and took on the new porsche model, the 911 RSCS at the last 12hr race @ Eastern Creek after the Bathurst 12hr's demise. John Bowe & Dick Johnson won the race. Im excited too... Bring on Easter!! |

I am really looking forward to this race, with all the different manufacturers being represented it will represent exactly (I think) what Bathurst distance races should be......a bit of something for almost everyone.

I will be helping out with the BMW 320i that Paul Stubber is driving and I will also be taking my sign cutting gear and working out of the On Track Motorsport truck, so come by and say hi. I am also looking forward to the race. There is such a huge variety of makes and models with a lot of cars that have he potential to win the race. |

I have a few different ideas on an outright winner.
The twin turbo BMW's might be one to watch, but they are an unproven package. A well sorted EVO/WRX will be quick depending on who the drivers are as to whether they treat it nicely. The surprise could come from te hot hatch class. Mazda3 mps/focus xr5/astra turbo Also the golf v6 could be a handy thing. Then there are the v8/turbo falcadore brigade that could spring an upset. I think a lot will have to do with the driver combinations. Not nessesarilly the speed differences between the drivers, but how they treat the machinery |

Looking foward to the 12Hour, probably to early to ask this yet, but any chance of being able to watch it live on the net? or at least a online radio to keep up with what's happening?

B24hr has a free webcast. Was dodgey from 2am-5am, but was great to watch (Filled in the adds when Mr Wilkinson was destroying our grandeur hopes..... god dammit, stupid luck!).
I'll happily pay up to $10 for live stream. Bigpond NextG will compliment my viewing from the mount! |

I am sure if any are entered. James Moffat was running one in GTP and it was built by Mr Robinson who is no stranger to preparing cars for endurance events. So hopefully it will be there. IIRC the team had actually built 2 cars but the second one never got a driver.

The 2 Subarus are reported in AA as being built/prepared by PBM.. to be run with Mr Crocker, Mr Atkinson, Mr Herridge and a number of other Subaru drivers from NZ....
There was still a whisper about an LWR-run Subaru for the enduro, pending sponsorship.... B24-experienced Mr A.Simonsen should be a walk up start... |

Ah, but Mr Herridge isn't a "Subaru" driver - he's a fully-fledged privateer!

There are apparently a few not so happy campers in the ranks with the inclusion of the Spec C WRX's. This car was not on the initial list in Spec C form and some hard talking by Subaru to CAMS has seen it appear on the list.
Also from the powder room is that one of the Australian based subaru factory drivers doesnt actually hold a National Circuit competition licence.....another phone call to CAMS on the way. |
